I really don't think anyone actually prefers .CO over the almighty .COM (at least for now )...just give it a chance please...look at all the people that post here and truly believe in .tv, .in, .me, etc...I REALLY don't think .CO is any "worse" than these as a ccTLD trying to be a "global TLD" ...and let's be fair, it's FAR from being a .ws!

Don't know about .me, but .co will always be way behind .in and .tv

In fact, I'd prefer .ws over .co atm, because:
1. SEO advantage through age of domain
2. Brand advantage with lack of confusion with .com

.CO might do well locally, but will it do well for English keywords which domainers tend to gravitate towards?

sex.co, seo.co are good, but already taken.

nfl.co is not yet taken and should be a good one.

Scratch around in the mud for the scraps and then later be forced to pay ridiculous prices for worthless domains.

They never learn, if they simply released all the domains many more people would be registering them and they would have far more chance of success.

As it is it feels like a neighbour with a life threatening disease...you know about it vaguely but you don't really care.

My guess is that every good name will be reserved and sold at high prices, the reality will kick in later. I would register a few but mostly to use for Colorado.

Denver.co anyone? Or Aspen.co, Insurance.co and the likes. .co will never win the .com game and after a while no one will promote .co either.

If a name I want is already ordered for the $30 options @ godaddy and name.com how can I order it also for that cheap rate so it can get pushed to auction, rather than spend $300 for the high priority backorder option.

Also where would be considered the best to place the big money backorder.

Only those who own auto.com will benefit from owning auto.co (maybee parking revenue will be good on hgh trafic names, but those smart enough to have high traffic names will go after the .co at any cost) those who dont should be fired on the spot.

when someone types in auto.co there going straig back to auto.com as auto.co will never be developed, and neither will 99.99% of the top keywords, those buying the keywords have the money to burn, simple as that.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/cctld-discussion/573976-co-official-discussion-showcase-sales-report.html

And like above, the email thingy will be a pain in the ass.

.co is a brand protection investment at best.
trying to develop a .co for columbia is the only smart play here. (as well as brand protection regges) if you park hotels.co and hotels.com comes up, is there a problem there ?

As hotels.co is a gerneric term, I doubt that there will be a problem.

Many of the good gernic terms have already been taken during the grandfather period and during the sunrise. Anyway still some nice domains to register available.

I took a look at that restricted list, and I didn't see a lot of restricted words, just the typical country codes and government words and a few Geos. They have restricted some words, such as cocaine, that could be used for illegal acticvity.

If you want to see restricted/reserved, just look at greedy .me.

Over 2500 premium .me names? That's insane.

Th government should only block their country's geo names, internet names such as domain, email, url etc and government ones.

As a registry is also a business, they should be able to withhold names and later sell at a premium price. The guys from .ME did a smart move, becuase every few month they have a new auction, which provides them with new interest fom users and should increase in the lon run the registration numbers.

I'm not claiming .CO will outshine .COM, because it won't, but I did pre-register about 35 names this morning. I'll be happy if I get a few of them. I think having lived in a spanish-speaking country helps. However, the registrar I used (Domain Monster) said that there are no auctions for its general availability domains, which is different than what GoDaddy is advertising. So I'm not sure if I should pre-register with another place, as well, just to be safe, or whether that would result in me bidding against myself (assuming that nobody else wants the name).

I figured I'd just stick with Domain Monster and take my chances.

Best place to register Landrush .co?

encirca.com is only $250 + $15 deposit.

Anywhere else cheaper?

Man, you should have tried DomainMonster for Free pre order?

You'll probably have to wait a while as Godaddy PreRegistration process is very......SLOW.....

Hope it works out,
