lol i agree with the resolution part. I hate scrolling the page sideways. It's better scrolling vertically cuz there's usually this scroller thing on the mouse. ^^
Those are some great tips, and its all true, I hate slow loading sites, i hate popups, sidescrolling, non html sites, splash pages. And having your contact information on your site is a very good Idea.

Every site needs to have a good color scheme as well. The text needs to be readable.
Can you imagine there are people building sites with pink writing on lime green background (I just saw a blog like that the other day)? Good luck reading that.
I actually think its a good thing to post about future updates, it gets the visitors checking back to see if the updates have happened / gives the visitors a general idea on what the future holds. The only thing wrong with this is saying something and then not getting it done.
Good Post, I already do all that, apart from the stuff like javascript, cookies, etc, as a lot of my sites have a huge content system stuff, with logins, so these scripts are needed (not so much the javascript, but the cookies)
There is nothing wrong with having a flash intro or for that matter an entire flash site. After a flash site loads, there is no more wait time between pages. as long as you also have a NON-Flash version to go with it for those people still living in the Stone Age on dial-up or at the helm of a fancy paperweight, (eg 386, 486, p1, p2, p3) I don’t see any problem.
