sidenote: I like the northamerica.tel reg, now just don't forget about all the other countries in North America http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_America They are going to get jealous if you only include Canada and the USA

Thanx Neo! However, Canada and the USA ARE the only countries in North America. Your wikipedia entry uses the term Northern America to include those other countries. At least, that's how I read it!

I also regged South America.tel

IMHO, it was planned to be that way. Mobile devices should do only dns query, not http request, and save time and traffic. Thats difference between .tel and other extensions. Again, IMHO.

Thank you, and your forum source was right - I got backordered domain transfered to me couple of minutes ago. I got one capital city from European union for $15, not bad

Regged retailer.tel and retailers.tel

Do you guys think it could make a good directory? I have a feeling the name is a bit too general and not catchy enough for consumers...

It could make a good directory for retailers, as in what they services they may need. I think it would be the wrong approach to market it to consumers, because they don't think in terms of buying from a "retailer". If you are a retailer you know it and these names may work well targeting that market.

Edit: Yeah, my "problem" domains at dynadot are no longer problems and are now in my account!

Glad I could help

As far as the aftermarket, I have not really seen anything yet. We will probably see names going up for sale in the coming days, but it will take a few weeks or months to establish any kind of sales record to give a reseller value to these names imho.

Sometimes, I wonder if people are in their right mind when they register names! Anyway, quite curious to see what will come next with that one, and how much time it will need to see GD in action!

I know some of you have been here a long time. But I felt it might be helpful to the new comers to post a summary of what .tel is. (I just dont want to hear people griping that they didnt know what they were buying.)

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=561820

What dot tel is:
* Unique way to update and change your information in different systems in one central location by changing your domains DNS info. dot Tel gives you multiple ways of changing this information either through the web interface, mobile phones (that support .tel like Iphone, blackberry etc), and applications

* A tld that creates a standard yet flexible way of storing contact information. As a standard you (a developer of applications) will have assurances that anytime you access the domain dns you will access the same structure. [note] the DNS records used are not exclusive to dot tel but are not usually used / required on other tlds. So as a developer you would be hit or miss if a .com has them.

* Telnic has created a template that will display your contact information for web browsers. The current template includes a link and banner pointing to the .tel org page.

* can interface with VOIP applications where calls can be routed to your current contact information

* supports contact privacy through the usage of username and passwords.

*Can link to other related .tel domains together if you choose to

* An easy way to keep everybody updated on your ever changing contact information

What dot tel is Not:
* A webpage! (There is a page that dot tel domains used to translate dns records to view contact info on the web) This is also a std across the dot tel domains. (spammer heaven? maybe)

* No Access to change A records to point to a webpage. (not recommended for the domainer who wants to park a page)

Recommended improvements:
* Implement a searchable method in the API or on the contact display page that will search inside of that domain.
* Allow the contact display page to be modified to resemble company branding
* (Completed) Remove Proxy page resolution of domain. (currently they resolve to s0.webproxy.nic.tel/lookup/alt.tel)[to be implemented before GA Launch]

I look at it almost like twitter in its simplicity and ability to build applications around it that make it popular and useful.

Besides, I always throw my money at some perceived goofy regs!
Remember all those crapola MOBIs I regged? I dropped thousands of them!
And I still might be the single largest .mobi holder on the planet!
But, yeah, I see your point... so I'll change the subdomain from "web2" to "version2".
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=561820
That way it will read version2.0income.tel
Much better!
Gotta love those sub-domains.
I can hardly wait until WEB 3.0!

Haven't seen too many people showing their reg's. Here's what I snagged. I lost out on 4 and, honestly, they weren't even that great. I spread them out between DomainPeople (wished I hadn't), Name.com and WebNames.ca.

I am curious to see how this ext takes hold, with the new visibility on MySpace and the other sites. I will certainly do my part and share the link and video on LinkedIn. I encourage all to spread the word in their respective social circles. Let's put the blinders on, take a few more swigs of the colorful cool aid and spread the word. I think we'll all (Telsters) be quite happy to see the outcome that I envision in 6 months to a year down the road. But, in the mean time, I'll do my part and will build out some of these names BUT will also consider decent offers.......in the, yet to be created, .Tel sales thread!

Cheers!

Thanks Neo! Typo fixed!
Wouldn't you know it though... my 500th post just had to have a typo in it!

Regarding the "i" in front of a word, I think I managed to grab iClick and iContact.
These two might have relevance in the TEL arena.
DynaDot just sent me a completed list.
Some of those "problems" have evidently been resolved.
They still do not show up in the whois yet but hopefully should soon.

Whew, glad it was a typo in the reply, I think you got a pretty good name on your hands there. Not as good as my vivienda.tel of course. Here is a little rep for reaching the 500 mark, even though you messed it up with a typo, hehe

Thanks for the rep back. I will PM you my short list of Spanish .tel domains that were available last time I checked. I'm not sure if they are all still available to register and there may be better ones out there, these are just the ones I was considering, but I am at my limit with .tel registrations.
