The point is that .tel is about communications, not websites. If you want to host a website then use a different TLD - there are hundreds to choose from

There is no expectation that this should happen. The point of .tel is for (tele)communications, whereas .com et al are for websites. Two worlds with different dimensions and properties. Think of the HTTP TelProxy as a wormhole that offers a little glimpse from one world into the other.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=561820

I'm sorry if this doesn't satisfy you, but there are hundreds of other TLDs that you can use for websites (and more on the way!)

I can't believe people are buying .tels from domainers.. They're so limited..
nudu, there is a TelHosting accreditation process that essentially says: any .tel domain MUST be manageable via an interface which MUST expose a full implementation of the TelHosting API specs.
That's it. You're not bound to the "very limited" UI of the Telnic-provided TelHosting, buy you're bound to the APIs.

Basically, we want to ENSURE that ANY application written to the TelHosting API specs will work for any .tel domain, whichever registrar/reseller you bought it from. In other words, you shouldn't care which app you use to manage your .tel, it's guaranteed to work for your .tel.

How's that for fairness?

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=561820
If you were asking "why can't I use my .tel as a regular domain?", the answer is of course "because it's a different product". It's like asking "why can't I use my Formula 1 race car to go to work?"

Not bad... This looks like some type of affiliate program which will pay publishers a percentage of the sales, orders.

It would also be better if these brands matched the primary URL.

Thanks,

Yes, a real estate agent did put his dot tel domain in a newspaper to advertise his business.

No relevant advertising

No problem. The domain the was listed - 'espn.tel'(possible TM issue) does not match or link to relevant PPC ads or ESPN.com. Rather it links to a squeeze page on 'How to make millions?'

What I'm saying is that there is a better, more relevant way to advertise on .TEL domains.

Is this normal, I typed in Ajman.tel in google and the first 4 or 5 pages are Ajman.tel or similar like the ones below

Ajman.tel = Alexa Popularity is 19115085

real-estates.accommodation.ajman.tel
train-and-buses.public-transport.ajman.tel
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=561820
shopping.entertainment.ajman.tel
daytours-and-trips.entertainment.ajman.tel
cinema-and-theatre.entertainment.ajman.tel

Even if I type "Ajman Tel", it appears at number 2 in Google

I havent been doing anything with my .tel names except to set up the basic directories. can someone tell me why Ajman would appear so prominently in Google and my other ones like Muscat or Manama dont show up anywhere.

Thanks

I think it is normal because you added the .tel and.or tel in the search, along with Ajman.
I typed Ajman alone (just that word) in google search and the .tel did not show on the first three pages.
Obviously, the domain has been indexed by google, but I do not know on what page it would show if the .tel or tel is not included.

just a guess, giles, but could it be that Ajman.tel, tho incomplete, is a semi-developed tel site with keywords and lots of directories while Muscat.tel and Manama.tel have almost nothing on them? i think that makes a big difference.

Because you are typing your domain name. Almost always will appear in Google. But almost no one will ever type ajman tel, so what you want results for is ajman, or ajman hotels or ajman shopping. When those appear in top 10 or 20, then you have accomplished something.

Hi

I typed Ajman tel on google and also saw that your on page 1. Well done!!!

Maybe reason for this is because you have created Goto links within your Ajman.tel domain.

One theory would be that it all depends on your name domain, for example one of my .tel (i.e hoes ).

for weeks I typed hoes on google to see if I get page 1 or 2 but I never did. Then one day I typed hoes tel and straight away I got excided and rang my friend to tell him I'm on page 1. While I was on the phone my mate typed looking for hoes in london and that when it hit me.

I created subfolders with my .tel ( all england counties) and any time I typed in phases on google with keywords hoes (mail domain name) and locations (subfolders) my domain was page 1,2,3 of google.

for example the things I typed was >>
  • looking for hoes in essex (Page 1)
  • looking for hoes in london (Page 3)
  • where to get hoes in bedfordshire (Page1)
  • helping online escorts (page1)
  • and so on .........

So again my theory would be that its depends on your domain and keyword(s) you use before the main domain and in about 3 - 4 weeks type it in google and see if it works for you.

All the best

Hi All

I backordered loads .tel extensions with domian monster, wasn't sure weather i would get them or not as I thought they would probably be snapped up in the sunrise period ect.

I wasn't that lucky and only around 6 of the whole lot that I backordered.

I must be honest looking now I should have probably tried and reg a few words that could be used as a directory rather than general words.

However I was very pleased and surprised with a few of them that I did get. I went for lots of christian names as i thought these could be worth loads of money in the future should it take off, as everyone would like to have there own christian name, well I would anyway.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=561820

Also I think the .tel advert at the time brainwashed me to go for lots christian names as well.

Great reading on this thread and look forward to joining in and chatting to you all.

Kind Regards

Gav

I'm Impressed.

Wow! That's pretty awesome JAG! Here's something else that I think is pretty impressive... I just reg'd RentCars.tel about 3 days ago.. maybe 4... After viewing your stats for JAG.tel on Alexa, I typed in RentCars.tel.. just for the hell of it... guess what? Already ranked 5.5mill by Alexa! I just reg'd it.. I don't think Google has even picked it up yet! How can this be? Granted, I have done some work on it... but not lots... there is still much more to be done.

Cheers!

Back-ordered .tel

Welcome to the forum, Gav.

I also pre-booked lots of .tel from Domain Monster. Despite their claims of over 90% successful registration rate, from my .tel experience with them, their success rate was close to zero.

Fortunately, I did secure some great premium dottels (not through Domain Monster though). My portfolio is very diverse too. Some of them are listed on Generic.tel and I am also working on several directory projects.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=561820

Glad to see people are sharing great .tel tools lately in this forum, hope the trends continue.

However I was very pleased and surprised with a few of them that I did get. I went for lots of christian names as i thought these could be worth loads of money in the future should it take off, as everyone would like to have there own christian name, well I would anyway.

Also I think the .tel advert at the time brainwashed me to go for lots christian names as well.

Great reading on this thread and look forward to joining in and chatting to you all.

Kind Regards

Gav

Will keep everyone updated on this directory
