Wow, and I thought some of the people in this thread were unrealistically optomistic

I am in Spain, it is showing up #2 here. The term has almost no competition, there are only 18 other pages on the internet with "tahiti ecotours" in the title. However, it is interesting to see that it was indexed so quickly. Also, there are not enough searches for this keyword to show up on googles radar.

Cannot doubt the power of dot tel.

I just really fascinate that when type "store music hit" in Google.
My hit.tel is come up on the #2 rank.

Again, I tried "iowa american tel", another dot tel is up on the first page.

Dot tel could get a lot better price, after stat installed.

Very well said.

Dot-tel is about simplicty. This is what will make dot-tel a winner.

Folder Limitations

FYI. Looks like there is a limit of 1,000 folders per domain, and 100 records per folder, so building huge directories broken down by region then by city, or category/subcategory/shops might not be possible.

if it's 100 records per subfolder, then it should be ok because you can create and drill down to the lowest level folder and still include 100 records (although not very good looking)

it it's a total of 100 records underneath each folder at the top level, then we are screwed

I urge you need to think more carefully about how you'd design a navigable directory structure - don't screw yourself with an illthought out design!

If you still think that you need 100s of records at a single level, ask your TelHosting provider if they'll increase their limits, or move to one that has higher limits, or set up your own.

there are still a number of LLL airport codes available, some for major airports. Do you think it is wise to reg a name simply for that reason, because it is an airport code?

At least, get one airport LLL, just in case.
Double value : 3 letters and an important name.
It worths your cost of $10 on a domain name.

I bought few days ago AKL.TEL ... just in case !

.Tels and Sliced Bread.

Just remember folks.... Back in the day, people also said that "sliced bread" would never fly.... They said at the time it was too labour intensive and not cost effective... But how wrong they were..

The bread was advertised as, "the greatest forward step in the baking industry since bread was wrapped." (Wikipedia)

The phrase "the greatest thing since sliced bread" (and variations thereof) is a commonly used hyperbolic means of praising an invention or development. Sliced bread appears to be something of an arbitrary selection as the benchmark against which later inventions should be judged. It has been said that "the phrase is the ultimate depiction of innovative achievement and American know-how",[8] although it is commonly used in the United Kingdom as well. (Wikipedia)

I think .Tel may be the next greatest thing since sliced bread...

That is pretty optimistic. From now on when you see something cool you should say that it is the next best thing since dot tel. Maybe it will catch on

interesting myspace.tel link.

http://get-your-dot-tel.myspace.tel/

It appears myspace is developing its .tel domain preparing for sales of the .tel extension.

This would also indicate that MySpace is actually developing their dot-tel and are planning to use it, as opposed to strictly protecting their brand as some people have suggested.

One can't actually develop their .tel. You'll probably see some info. plugged into an example and them explaining its benefits. I can't see .tel succeeding within myspace. You can do a lot more with a myspace profile than you ever could with a .tel, not to mention a profile is free as well ( hey, that rhymed )

From a business standpoint, a myspace.com/mybusiness address on a business card would not look nearly as profesional as mybusiness.tel.

applesandoranges.tel is available...

99.9% of myspace members don't have a business and those 99.9% would rather have a fancy profile than a .tel

A profile and a .tel are not apples and oranges. Both are set out to accomplish the same thing. People not only sign up for myspace for the networking, but also because of the individuality they achieve with their personal profile. You cannot do this with .tel - it would be like forcing students to wear uniforms at school. Since they have a choice, I can't see them buying one.
