maybe i'm missing the point here but why are people trying to customize .tel template? isn't it a bad thing if .tel becomes customizable then u basically lose standardization and the whole intent of .tel and it becomes just another .tld...... the only customization i think would be good is if it's done by telnic and they modify the template...am i missing something

When you said on live chat that you would make a photoshop of the .tel with adsense on it to see the reaction from the people, I thought that you were joking lol...

Anyways, happy April fools day

No joke, this is part of the iPhone deal: Apple will use Android code starting Wednesday! MySpace buys Telnic in a stock and cash deal.

The original registrant account that you use to buy your domains (whetehr it's with name.com or domainmonster), automatically assigns the telhosting to it and you cannot change it individually at present. If you transfer a domain over by itself it will transfer fine, but the control panel will not go with it and it cannot be assigned an individual password... you could give the new owner your telhosting password but they will have access to the tellhosting of all your domains in that one account... this is absolutely insane!

I'm sure this will be fixed by telnic (because it's their telhosting software that's the problem), but I will contact Henri personally and update you all when I hear more. Luckily Telnic have been very keen to fix probs as soon as they're spotted, but this needs to be rectified fast as otherwise there will be a ton of upset people when they go to transfer a domain and that wouldnt be good.
UPDATE!!
Just heard from Henri about the transfer issue, here is his response:

"First question: how did you manage to transfer a domain, when domain
transfers are prohibited for 60 days after purchase, starting on March
24?

Second, domain transfers work this way:
- When you transfer a domain, the whois owner changes. That's clear.
- If you transfer to the same registrar, it is the registrar who must
reassign the domain in his telhosting partition to the new person.
- If you transfer to another registrar, the new registrar creates the
domain and assigns it in his telhosting partition. The old domain
stays until the old registrar deletes it, but it is effectively not
going to be publishable, in that the changes you make to the old
domain won't go live at all. It takes a few days for domains to
transfer between registrars, and only when the domain is actually
transfered will the old domain be deleted by the old registrar.

What's critical for now is the answer to my first question above "

(I managed to transfer a domain to my girlfriends account for some reason, but the whois and telhosting hasnt changed, obviously because there is that 60 day restriction and if there wasnt, I guess it would take them time to transfer the telhosting anyway perhaps)

For anyone wanting to transfer a domain, it looks like you will just have to wait 60 days first, so best put those sales on hold.

the transfer to another account of the same registrar does not have a 60-day restriction I suppose

Protect Our Planet
This is not April Fool:

I've got Top 5 geo cities for apartments in the U.S., these are Google highest search cities for apartments, I miss Chicago and Houston was not available.

NYCApartments <---This is the best I have. (New York City)
AtlantaApartments
SanDiegoApartments
LosAngelesApartments
HawaiiApartments

I have an excellent idea and did a test and really fits geo cities apartments because you can list :
Description of apartment, adress (map), phone, price and website to full listing or pictures.
subcatecories can be more easy to manage than city alone (atlanta.tel) also it's more targetting something (apartments)

"Content Era" is trademarked; any unauthorised use will result in a three hour sauna with a Naysayer listening to a monologue on dottel domains.

Content Era Domainers "CED's" please pass on by. You come from an era when life was lived at a much slower pace enabling the spending of many hours looking at the computer screen.

If it is a simple push via one registrar then simply change the password via the "setting" prior to the push- advise new owner of username/password.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=561820

Owner of receiving account then can change to own secure password and should then be able to access the site.

how were the domains assigned during sunrise?

seems that a lot of names were taken by people with no claim to the trademark in that period. was it still a first come first served basis if there was no trademark holder in the sunrise period?

The sunrise process is explained in detail here, and the issue of dubious trademark applications was discussed earlier on in this thread.

We're in general availability now.. time to look forward, not back

I have read all the documentation.

I am just interested to know how some potentially high value domains have ended up with non trademark holders in the sunrise period?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=561820

I am slightly annoyed that a domain that I wanted to bid on was not available in landrush but is now owned by an employee of a .tel registrar/developer who cannot have owned a trademark for the word.

There may be a very good explanation for it, that's what I'm trying to find out.
