So far, Bido :( thumbs down. the power of Zero is Zero

Perfect play on words :) Reps added.

This keeps making me think of the old OUD. It looked promising and had a lot of promise but Andres (the owner) kept trading down & the experiment, as everyone pretty much already knew that it would have, failed. GIVE US SOMETHING INTERESTING and we'll be there for more than 10 seconds a day. And believe me -- right now, a lot of us aren't going to be making any bids with that ten seconds.

People whine and complain when they're asked to put their self proclaimed "super premiums" at reserves of low $XXX or low $X,XXX at places like TRAFFIC. I think it will be quite rare (if ever) that you see ultra premium LLL.com's and killer one word generic.com's there for a reserve of $1.00.

Then again, with this economy, ya never know...but I'd say it's still pretty doubtful.

I think Bido is great way to bring publicity to the world of domain names..Even with all the problems, anything that brings attention to what we are doing as far as domain names is a good thing...

Let's give Bido a chance / try again & see what happens. Hopefully the marketing here at namepros pays off.

The first day grantequity.com sold for over $800 was astonishing. Today's domain ended at $100. I'm curious to see what will happen with FixedLoans.com

I find it funny that the experts are allowed to bash the domains.

I thought the same thing, though it's honest at least... if they were all boosters I might be more inclined to ignore the commentary, which sorta defeats the purpose.

The experts give their opinions on the domains. No one is paid to say one thing or another. We offer our true god to honest opinions. I think this is a great feature because it can give guidance to newer investor or suggest something that you might not have been thinking. On top of that it adds a dynamic to an auction that is not seen anywhere else.

It was interesting that the first domain received terrible marks and sold for $800+ and the last domain received mostly good reviews and sold for $100.00.

I give them a lot of credit for allowing both the good with the bad. Kudos to Bido for the balanced commentary.

If nothing more, I like their log in system. It's pretty cool, with the "log in image" and all.

I agree. If it basically turns into a cheerleading site for the domains on auction then the site will lose credibility.

Allowing all comments both good and bad is the only way to go.

Allowing all comments is good, but I hope that Bido regularly ranks it's own experts and removes those that aren't up to snuff. By that I mean those that cheerlead crappy domains or just plain get it wrong too many times.

On one hand I hope the name quality improves, on the other I hope I can get some of my crappy ones sold too.

One other thought - Perhaps Bido could sell one domain at a time instead of one a day with or without reserve. So if one were to check you would see one in auction, one in queue and then again later in the day one in auction one in the queue. And then in the middle of the night another new name in the auction and one in the queue. Keep the auctions in one hour in length and sell a whack of domains.

Just my $.02.

It looks to me like they attempt to let users do that themselves; there's a "thumbs up" bug on each comment, and I would assume the ones with more thumbs up get displayed higher.

EDIT: Actually it looks like the "number of thumbs up" each comment has doesn't have any effect on how prominently it's displayed. I would suggest Bido think about changing that, so the cream rises to the top, so to speak.

True, that's the part I find really interesting about Bido, how various people look at one domain and come to their own conclusions about it.

auctions need to run longer and perhaps 3 categories

$1. reserve
$100. reserve
$1000.reserve

they should listen that one hour is not long enough , but i am happy to see something other sedo

Great idea, I hope they see this and change the current Bido into something better.

I am having some issues with Bido. I signed up as an expert and was approved.

First of all I have no idea how to leave a comment on a domain.

Second, when I try to upload my picture and save it the only option I have is "Delete". The "current" button is grayed out next to the uploaded picture. When I hit save it defaults back to the stock picture.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Brad, all pictures our Expert Members upload are 1. reviewed, and 2. designed by our designers like you see all the others with the yellow background. We recently built the option into the site for you to edit your own picture over the yellow background, however, even if you do that, you'll still need to wait for your picture to be reviewed and approved.
We realize the flow is not clear there in that part of the site, and we're changing the design there so its obvious that your picture is awaiting moderation. We're giving a lot of thought to this process and in the future there will be some changes made to how pictures will be handled.
To leave a comment on a domain, below the description of each domain up for auction is the link to click to leave your own Expert Commentary.
Please let me know if all the info helps and thanks so much for your support and participation with us!

Thanks for clearing up the picture issue. I sent you a PM regarding the comments. When I am logged in I don't see any option to leave a comment.

Bido.com has a GREAT concept.
No not the idea of 1 domain a day, but DOING something that the other "Me-Too" auction sites don't do.
Thank you for at least trying to be different.

I got the issue resolved and left a very detailed review of FixedLoans.com, as well as comments for all upcoming auctions.

Glad we got that sorted out Brad!

Anyone here care to guess what the fixedloans.com auction will sell for?
http://www.bido.com/Auction?name=fixedloans.com&n=2
Get your guess in before 12:30 PM EST tomorrow. Winner will receive an autographed copy of The Domain Game book by David Kesmodel.
More about the book here: www.thedomaingame.org
Post your guess in the thread. You must be a member of Bido to enter, please post your Bido nickname with your guess so we can look you up and know where to mail the book!
Closest guess (in either direction + or -) wins, if two people guess the same amount, the first person to guess that amount will be the winner. In the case of two people tying for distance from winning amount, the person with the lower of the two guesses (without going over) will be the winner.
I'm going to post another thread with the contest details so guesses can be on either thread, timestamps break ties of course.

Have fun and good luck!
