Not going to lie, I love the idea Bido brings forward to the domain society, but I guess my domains are bad because all I got was low bids, or no bids. Another reason was because 1/2 my auctions were at 12am so I was like really? what is the point...

Sold one, out of 4-5 that got bids.

I had never used Bido before, but a few days ago I received a friendly call from one of Bido staff (don't remember his name) and I decided to try with some domains. After checking the recent changes to their system, I'm gladly surprised with them. I think they have a very innovative and original platform.

As others have mentioned in this thread, the key to their success is to achieve the right combination of quality domains and quality buyers, but I think the domain world should be interested in seeing a new platform succeed. I know I am, so I will keep sending some of my names in the following days / weeks. I'll comment on the results later.

My Bido experience.

I recently made the mistake of bidding on a Bido auction.

I say "made the mistake" because once I won the domain, and paid (via Paypal) I was asked to to scan and email a government issued ID.

Keep in mind, this is a $28 sale and I have already verified my Paypal account by the usual small payment method.

Maybe I am being unreasonable, but I don't want such personal information flying around cyberspace more than necessary.

I emailed Bido that I am not willing to provide that documentation, and if they wish to wait out any Paypal cancellation period before releasing the domain, that would be fine.

Next, I am asked to call Bido to "discuss" my payment, then spammed with auto generated emails.

Bido, I will never deal with you again. Stop spamming me, keep the $28 and buy a book on customer service.

You are probably right that it is buried in the TOS.

However, if government IDs are required maybe it would be better to say so in the sign up process.

This process, while may seem a burden to some, allows us to provide our guarantee to sellers and be a safe place to transact. It is for your protection, after all.

I recently made the mistake of bidding on a Bido auction. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=560553 I say "made the mistake" because once I won the domain, and paid (via Paypal) I was asked to to scan and email a government issued ID. Keep in mind, this is a $28 sale and I have already verified my Paypal account by the usual small payment method. Maybe I am being unreasonable, but I don't want such personal information flying around cyberspace more than necessary. I emailed Bido that I am not willing to provide that documentation, and if they wish to wait out any Paypal cancellation period before releasing the domain, that would be fine. Next, I am asked to call Bido to "discuss" my payment, then spammed with auto generated emails. Bido, I will never deal with you again.
