![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Onspot, yes we have, a few times. Here are a couple of links: Slideshow/Statistics: Bido Trends August - November, 2009 at Conceptualist.com, By Sahar Sarid ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/560553-bido-com-social-auction-platform-official.html Bido: August/September Stats, New bidding Options, And For Those In Need, “Google Wave” Invite Giveaway at Conceptualist.com, By Sahar Sarid In regards to the other concerns about what Bido is and what we represent, I think there is some confusion. Of course Bido is here to connect buyers and sellers, it's why we focus efforts to build the platform for sales to take place, and facilitate them - rather than large scale marketing of individual auctions for random / individual members. @jlw - you mention "I've had 38 auctions on Bido and sold 14 domains" - I think this is a good ratio of listings to sales, granted its not 1 in 1 but its much closer to that than 1 in several thousand. Granted, I recognize that you do not need to take my word for it or if, to you, what I think matters in your expectations. However, the platform is working and doing desirable results - especially when compared to any alternative methods of selling domains. We work hard to keep this ratio of listings to sales as attractive as possible for sellers, and connect as many buyers and sellers as possible. We dont want a lot of listings of unsold inventory, far from it - quite the opposite. We just don't typically market one-off auctions, we ask sellers to do those activities for enhanced results. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Since nearly all 38 were dot-com domains, and most had good monthly exact search volumes, very high ad-click prices, and clear commercial intent, and since most sold for to a single bidder for the minimum, reasonable people might reasonably be concerned with Bido's performance at bringing buyers and sellers together. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=560553 I never said "1 in several thousand", nor did I complain about Bido's overall sales ratio at all. I think Bido's ratio (which I think is about 1/3) is actually unexpectedly high considering the low quality of much of what's offered. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thank you for clarifying, its a good discussion. Remember that now that we released today's version of Bido, you may submit your inventory with any price up to 100K, for free. So if you were upset about your sales prices being too low previously, but you didn't want to opt for the Reserve option (for a fee, that we previously offered), this release addresses that core dilemma. Put whatever minimum price you will be happy to accept, that will be your BidoPrice, members will either vote for it or not, and you dont need to walk away regretting your sale price. While at the same time you can set the price as attractive and engaging as you like. This new release gives you nearly full flexibility with pricing your inventory. I don't know if you read the page but more info about this is here: http://www.bido.com/Info/BidoPrice ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=560553 Regards, Jarred |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I checked out the new site, but it's unusable, due to bugs: On the listings pages, the words uppercase/lowercase overwrite the domain name and also the word "Description", making the domain names unreadable. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=560553 The submission wizard is all screwed up, with numbers starting over again and no way to submit anything after steps 1 to 5 are filled in. Other concerns (probably not bugs): If there's a place where one can vote on the domains I haven't found it yet. That should be made apparent. (Or is my inability to see it another bug?) Domains that needed only one more vote, with say three days left, under the old system now need six more votes with only three days left. That just ain't right. The votes should have been adjusted proportionally. If you were 4/5th of the way there, you should still be 4/5 of the way there. Especially given that the increased vote count requirment is balanced by the new voting incentives, and 30 day duration hasn't changed. P.S. -- I'm running the latest FireFox. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just tried to go through todays listings and it was one of the worst experiences I ever had at a web site :-) I love Bido, but this new change, ugh. Everything moves so slow and jerky now. Adding those thumbnail pictures is a good idea but it just doesn't work, making things all sluggish. Perhaps the site is just being worked on while I tried to navigate it, I will try again later.

"Domains that needed only one more vote, with say three days left, under the old system now need six more votes with only three days left. " - This statement is not true. When we switched from 5 votes required to 10, we doubled all existing vote numbers. So if it had 4 votes then, it would have 8 now (unless someone voted for it since). Regarding the errors you saw, the site was tested for months extensively, please clear your browser cache to fix what you experienced. We have been getting a constant stream of submissions; yours is an isolated issue. We can troubleshoot more over the support desk if you would like: Bido Support To vote, click the BidoPrice tab. That's where the voting happens, thanks for the feedback that its hard to find, we'll review that some more. Regards, Jarred | ||||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I read about the recent developments at Bido and I immediately had to check things out. I had a similar problem with not finding the voting tabs so I could vote. In my case it turned out I didn't log-in, so I didn't have the option yet. I also experienced very slow site speed for a couple hours. But when I recently just checked, it was instant with no hesitation. I like the new additions to Bido and with incentive to vote. That and good speedy page resolve, I now enjoy voting on Bido even more. Thanks so much for putting in the hard work getting these inplements in place you guys!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yesterday morning the problems I described above were gone, and I was able to submit an auction, then download the template file and try a bulk submit. My feedback is this: ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=560553 With my first submission, I had uploaded a logo-image intended to identify all my auctions; so I saw Bido's hashed filename in the template download. I copied that to all rows. Only in the error message on upload did I get useful info about the need to package a second copy of the image in the zip-file. I did that and it worked, but it would be more convenient if a seller's account could specify a default image to be used automatically unless overridden. Later, the site was down for much of the day. Later, when I went to upload a second bulk file, I had troubles: Even though the file did upload and looked OK in the preview dialog, when I clicked the button to proceed with the submission, I got a "No File Uploaded" error pop-up. This happened twice. I changed the name of the zipped template file (the file inside, not the zip-file), so it wouldn't be the same filename as my earlier, successful bulk submission. It probably was not the source of any difference, but the next time I tried, I got that same error message pop-up but on uploading (not on submitting); the preview still looked OK and when I clicked the button to go on with the submission it worked. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't like the new changes. It was easy to see the domains on a single line. Now they have huge icons which splits up name after name... I liked the "old" Bido better!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't quite like the new setup, but whatever... Can't please all. I have noticed an upgrade in name quality recently though. Should have an impact on sale prices as well. Keep it up Bido.

I think the mistake a lot of people make is submit names that'll sell for slighly over reg fee, then people don't buy.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey Garrett, I just received my winning domain from my first auction won over there. Thank You for your help with everything. I have been a member since you created the auction house and I have to say, You (Bido) have come a loooong way. The Online Support feature really helps out tremendously. I know that there will always be room to improve but for the people who haven't been there from Day 1, Every time I bounce back into Bido, many changes have been made, for the better. Thanks again Garrett, and Bido team, and Happy Holidays to you. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | i'm not sure that i like the idea of incentivizing votes. I believe i read the new system lets voters get a kickback on domains that go to auction and are sold. i'm also sort of feeling like a vote should be a vote to bid. how does a domain end up with 10 votes to auction and not 1 bid at the lowest $28 reserve? voters should put their money where their mousehand is, imo just my 2 cents. i did sell 2 domains on Bido today btw

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=560553 However, I did list Drifted.com today and it got voted to auction almost within an hour. I'm excited to see if it actually gets a bunch of bids and makes me a wad of cash, lol. Anyway, i do like the site overall. They've obviously put a lot of hard work into it and every new change is going to be a learning experience, so we just need to wait and see how it turns out and hopefully they will continue to listen to feedback and get everything running great. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think the incentivized voting has a lot of potential. With the limited number of free votes available, users will not only be incentivized to vote, but to choose wisely. I expect over time to see the quality of domains go up for domains going to auction and also for domains submitted as the poor ones slip by and would require paid credits to be relisted for voting. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=560553 That leads to an issue with some of my previously submitted domains. I would like to see past submissions get a new life with this new, improved system. I feel that many of mine would be more likely to get the necessary votes and have a decent chance at selling. I'm 2 for 2 in submissions getting enough votes within 24 hours under this new system. Now, I'll just wait and see if that translates into active bidding. Speaking of which, I'd still like to see the active auction time expanded beyond 1 hour ... maybe at least 24 hour period so that more people would be likely to stop in and maybe get more proxy bids. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Rather than lengthening the period of live voting, I think the single biggest improvement would be to make advance bids be proxy bids rather than fixed. This would create huge, confident pre-bidding. Remove the silly 2% discount for pre-bids, it doesn't really incent competition among pre-bidders. Proxy bidding would. Let it be like rare coin auctions: At the live auction, a robot can bid from "the book," starting at a small advance over the second-highest pre-bid, as "the book" tries to win it for the highest pre-bidder, against "the floor" (the live bidders), either beating the live ones or (more usually) not. Pre-bids would not be visible, so each pre-bidder must bid the highest they would be happy to pay. However, a pre-bidder IS allowed to bid during the live auction also, so the seller might still benefit from "auction fever." The only exception to the normal minimum increment would occur if a live bidder jumps to just under the highest pre-bid, Then the book can bid the final pre-bid even if less than the minimum increment; i.e., it's the last bid the book can make on that lot. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=560553 In live coin auctions, many live bidders are professional agents/dealers acting for clients. So they too may make a substandard increment as long as it's their last bid on the lot. |
