Dynadot down for at least 45 hours ...

It has now been more than 36 hours.

If it continues like that for several days, I guess this thread will become a discussion about the best substitute registrar.... (I have always been very pleased with Namecheap, but they still remain resellers - I do anyway keep about a third of my domain names with them; I am currenty testing Rebel.com, which is reported to be reliable, but I prefer Dynadot's interface.)

Like everybody, I would be very tolerant of Dynadot's downtime if only a clearer explanation was provided about their problem.

http://park.dynadot.com/ that page works.

but yeah I wish they'd had better communication with us all, but maybe they can't send out a mass email to their customers due to a broken database or something?

Like someone said, unbelievable. I also never saw this happen before.

Hope they work it out...fast. For their sakes and their customers.

I know them as a good service provider, any ticket I send before was answered very soon.

Anyway there is no reason to not post an update after so many hours!

I'm curious about what they gonna tell us, maybe the offer some "crisis discount"?

If if this outage will continue many other hours there is no reason to go away, they have a great and FAST interface like no others. I'm sure they will take actions that this problem will never came up...

It's cost me as I cant push 2 domains (both Dynadot) to the new owner even though I have received payment. Thus making me look unprofessional.

So they still haven't made any attempt at informing their customers of what's going on, or given an ETA for resumed service? I find that quite amazing.. even The Pirate Bay was able to keep us informed of a technical problem last night, and those guys are in the middle of a fraking trial!

how? If you can't push to the new owner, he can't receive the domain name via dynadot

When they get the system back up, they should better make a great report about what happened, apologize to their customers, refund money to tasters who couldn't delete in time -- damn, this looks so unprofessional. They're being silent, no news, nothing. I remember when The Planet data center went down, they were updating their forum every 15 minutes about what they're doing while trying to get it back up. That's professionalism.

I'm in the exact same position, I have three clients sitting around wondering what kind of mickey mouse operation I'm running -- beyond being out a couple hundred bucks in tasted names at this point. It makes me look so unprofessional and maybe even slightly shady, and that is unacceptable to me in the extreme.

Definitely puts some things into perspective,
never put all your eggs in one basket, or go
with the host/registrar with the most customers
(as that just indicates their the most reliable
and put money they earn back into their business model)

I'm guessing Dynadot just wasn't prepared for something of this magnitude to happen, but now they know.

Anyway I found this funny:
(from google archives)

"Todd continues to run Dynadot with an emphasis on customer service, efficiency, and engineering excellence."
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=558838

an emphasis on Customer Service?

You guys are really worried about promos? That is pretty sick in the head, right now I'm worried about the names I have in DynaDot and what happened to their customer database.

I dont think they deserve to keep their perfect review here at NamePros. They know we are here as they mention right on their site that we rate them 4/4 stars. Doesnt look like my new review changed their rating much.

As far as Im concerned they deserve to lose their perfect score here at NP.

They honestly shoud have a person on the major domain forums for added support.

You are right, and I do never put all my eggs in the same basket (especially keping in mind the Registerfly debacle, at the time I had managed to have my domains there escape just in time!). I have about 20 percent of my domain names with Dynadot. Nevertheless, every domain has to be in a basket, somewhere. Even if not all domains are affected, having a fair percentage of them in such a situation is never pleasant.

I have still good hope that Dynadot will be back soon, although already much more time has passed than what they foreseen on phone to some people on this thread. But my plans to move 20 percent more of my domains to them will probably be frozen for some time, unless they provide a VERY convincing explanation (including about lack of communication on the temporary welcome page). They will probably rather go to Namecheap (always excellent service and communication, good prices, fast interface) or to Rebel (I am just at the start of experimenting with them, only a few domain names there).

Luckily for me I've dealt with this company before using Dynadot. They were skeptical about Dynadot and preferring Netsol. I talked them out of it due to ICANN 60 day transfer policy, yadayada. I'm worried about the names I hold with Dynadot.

I have all email correspondence with this buyer. So unless Dynadot wants to credit my account with $1800 they'd better sort this out soon.

Dynadot will come through. As far as you name brokers getting impatient and worried about your clients my common senses will tell me to check and make sure the registrar of "said name sold" was live just before committing a sale. Use your head.

I can't believe it's still down without any explanation. I surely hope they refund my $2000.00 in tasted domain names that I could not grace delete on time because of their site being down. If they don't credit the time or find some way to work this out for me, I know I'll be moving all my domains over to other registers.
