You are are welcome if you ever come to the Netherlands I know what you mean but still I think I know you a little although I never actualy met you. What I want to say is that being polite brings more than being a *hole IMO
...Can't help but feeling a bit guilty over that whole incident as well. But it is water under the bridge and I did communicate with LeeRyder via PM to sort of appologize and respect differences. Sorry forum members for that rather ugly incident. I still HATE politics!
All I know is politics isn't on a Domain Name Message Board.
I've been on the streets in Pennsylvania for the last three months after work every day making sure it stayed where it belonged, and it did.
I also got a "must-see website" nod from the state's premier political news source for an attack ad site I made for a state-wide candidate.
And finally when all was said and done, my first budget as councilman is balanced (no tax hikes), giving our staff $2/hour raises (to the going regional rate to stop more people from leaving for other jobs) and cutting garbage service fees by 20%.
The big problem with politics is that not enough people are involved. When more people are involved, and I mean beyond voting, then those in power have to cater to the people to keep their jobs because others are waiting to get in behind them. But we don't create that pressure anymore on many incumbents, and that's a big problem..
So, what kind of political discussion was it? Topical? Or just ad hoc mud slinging?
I happen to see more and more impolite people in namepros now and then...Man, when will they learn to grow up?
Flora.

when people cross the line. Moderators try to catch these problems early, but of course NP is so big now that sometimes its not possible to absorb everything that's posted.
Having these rules in place is a grand idea in my humbling opinion. I hope the debates continue which bring familiarity, and understanding to any given topic that is being debated. I do wish for them to continue without name calling. A healthy debate even if there are dissimilar opinions is valuable in any community and natural.
Even if we can not acquiesce in the debate, we as members should respect one another in, out, and off the debated topics. The debated topics should not hinder our respect for one another relating to other issues, IT related etc.
So and so member may not agree with Mr. or Mrs. So and so, but he or she should not be ostracized either.
I really like this forum and community and have found many members paying it forward. For example, I had bought a template from someone here, who just gave me an image not a template, no index files, nothing. A kind member helped me out, as I try to do the same with others if I can.
Politics and religion- Maybe we shoul'dnt mix Alchol & Namepros together.
Or we could open a NamePros pub were we can all brawl. After all fists should hurt more than a couple of buttons pushed on a keyboard, but I guess not in this day and age.
I, for one, have thought about this before, but decided it was a bad idea, as it is basically encouraging fights and rifts in the community, which isnt a good idea IMO!
Normally this can be resolved with a Debate Forums specifically for political, social, and religious debate. Normally a "debate" forums has leeway for argument. This keeps the rest of the site cleaner.
...and I think it's time we (the humans) start a world federation of religions, which holds as its central tenet that your religion must be based on Peace in order to be a member. (I think all this business of waging war in the name of religion is a lot of crap...) Maybe such an organisation would make better progress in that domain than the United Nations?
oh, and maybe we can start the movement here, by being a peaceful community of Web people?
best wishes to all in this period between Ramadan and Channukah / Christmas and the New Year
not a good idea for me as well, not unless we're interested for trolls to come in here and make namepros a breeding ground for trolls, just like what happened to the good old days newsgroup, have you read lately a good news from them, most of them are flames coming from trolls.
