Question regarding GoDaddy's backorder service

I have a question regarding godaddy's backorder service and thought the newbie lounge would be the most appropriate place to post it.

I have my eyes on this particular domain. Problem is, it's regged, but it's going to expire soon and the owner is most likely going to let it drop.
My question is: If I put a godaddy backorder on that name, will the owner have ANY way of finding out I did so?

I'm asking, because if he can, I'm worried he'll renew the domain and then ask a much higher price than the ~ $20 for the backorder + 1-year reg fee.

I haven't dealt with backorders before, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, guys

The owner can also backorder the same name, when he do it,he will found this name has been backordered,so maybe he will renew his name.

The risk that he'll backorder his domain (when he's letting it drop) and at the same time doing it at Godaddy shouldn't be that big, eh?

The name isn't regged at godaddy ATM. But how would be able to find out, if it's possible for him to do so?

And yeah, him backordering his own domain would be rather weird.

Yeah it would be kind of weird for him to backorder his own domain, unless he lets it drop for some reason and then realizes he made a mistake. That only happens after the domain has been in redemption period for some time (not sure how long RP lasts.)
If it goes that far it will be too late and it`s free for anyone to grab.
My recommendation is that if the domain is a popular keyword or you might think someone else might be really interested in it that you go with some other backordering service. From what I`ve read around Godaddy`s backordering isn`t that good if a domain is in high demand.
Otherwise,if it`s just some obscure domain that you don`t think people will be too interested in go with godaddy.Remember that a domain deletes 75 days after it`s expiration date.

I would suggest enoms club drop for backordering they tend to be the best backording service available.

Anyways.. The owner really has no way of findout out you backordered it.. There is no email sent to him,etc

A few of my friends reported lackluster results using godaddy backorder. You may wish to check out other services first.
