Would you register a .IR ?

It's Iran... way too high of a political statement right now to purchase a .IR, IMHO.
I understand it could get us in under the radar should something change in Iran to make it a free country (Like the current tide in the area seems to be moving), but for crying out loud... Businesses and individuals in America aren't even allowed to do business with Iran.
I also understand that IR could stand for infa-red and the like, but that's a little to narrow of a group, IMHO yet again.
So would I register .IR DN's for $30 each? Not at the moment, but best of luck to you.

Ditto. I don't think I would either. Especially with America and it's dealings in the Middle East. .IR, could be thought of as Iraq. Hmm....

IR, also has no other meaning like, .tv or .bz etc.. At least none that I can think of.

Very intresting comments! Alot talked about state of economy: Well Iran's economy is improving rapidly!

Plenty of scares over legality, i checked, there is NO problem over registering a .ir as i have checked with a few americans who hold .ir in usa and canada (news agencies / political groups!)

Just intrested, if i never said .IR is Iran, would people have had more chance to reg it?

Not worth it with the political issues and the economy isn't strong enough quite yet to support a large online market. Worth about the same as many of the other lesser-known ext.

paypal, credit card once launched. Though i doubt those names would still be availible on .ir maybe co.ir!

there is over 40,000 registered .ir already (source webhosting.info)

I definitely wouldn't waste my money on a .ir domain... political issues, etc...
