![]() ![]() ![]() | I've seen your sales threads for rex.com for a while. You are probably giving too much credit to the "dictionary definition" which in my opinion is counter productive. I think the real value in this name is the acronym and very common use as a proper noun. Rex.com is obviously getting very solid type-in traffic due to that (around 500/day ?) which adds significant value to it. Even on moderate revenue numbers this is easily a $50k domain and $100k is not farfetched. I do not know the actual revenue numbers so it is difficult to speculate further than that |

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/short-domain-discussion/533749-rex-com-your-thoughts.html domain appraisals should be based on a domains "liquid value".... i.e. how much the domain would get right now if it was sent to auction starting at $1 and no reserve price. in my opinion this is the only thing appraisals should be based on because really you can get any amount for a domain if you find a motivated buyer and a determined seller.. it just all comes down to how likely a sale is at that amount.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Gentlemen, First off, Thank you all for taking the time to come here and provide your thoughts and professional opinions, it truly is appreciated. It seems as though pricing is the issue that takes precedence in the forum conversations. What I find interesting is that our asking price seems to have stayed just above reseller pricing for the last couple of years. 3 years ago we were at a 1 million price tag and were receiving high offers of 250-400k+ on a pretty regular basis. When we dropped our price in half to 500k trying to be more in line with the outside world, offers seemed to drop along with it to 150-300k. Now that we have dropped our price even further, offers seem to drop along with it yet again. I guess the flailing economy for the past couple of years does play some role in this. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=533749 Personally I have always believed that REX.COM is a billion dollar name and any price we sold it for if sold would be regretted over the long term. We are in no particular hurry to get rid of the name, we just have a lot of others in development that are humming along nicely in niche and well defined markets that are taking the majority of our time. In any business an injection of cash helps to push forward. As I have stated before I have several partners and though the name is officially mine, there is a protocol at my end. Since I am the only one of my team that is a member or is even interested in the domain forums I am the one that is regularly injecting the domain in here to see if there is interest from a domainer’s standpoint. We no longer are marketing the domain for sale anywhere else and mostly I inject it in these forums to see from a domainer’s response where things might stand. Offers under 100k are not even discussed very seriously with my partners anymore. We all are looking long term at this domain as well as our complete portfolio. As we watch the increase in sales, revenues and users from our other domains, less worry is placed on what to do with REX.COM. I feel that it should at least be made known that it is available for sale to the domain forums, my partners do not. Mostly I guess it is for my own knowledge while we wait for the right developmental process to eventually kick in to place. As far as price goes, we are at the bottom-line and well below my own comfort level and value. As far as I am concerned there is only one REX.COM and it is a phenomenal brandable and marketable domain and could be used for almost any genre of product or service on the planet especially from the dictionary definition standpoint. You want to be the King of Flowers, King of the Social Communities, King of Real Estate, King of Domains, King of Electronics or King of Porn, REX would make an excellent brand name. Even from an acronym standpoint there are many markets were the dictionary definition would play and work well branding with the letters themselves, such as Real Estate, Entertainment or Finance. In due time without a sale of the domain, we will figure that out and launch it forward. Anyway, I am sorry to exhaust you with the regular influx of REX into the forums. We are kind of tired of it ourselves for now and will be far less active in the near future. Domainers old and new seem to come and go into these forums, so I just assumed that keeping REX.COM in the loop so to say might provide some valuable insight from you domain professionals on many levels, which is most definitely has and I again Thank You all for that. |
