I just received last night an email from eliteinvestment.net as well.

Here is the reply from "Mr. Murphy" after I responded to his inquery about one of my domain names:

Quote:
We both need independent valuation first.

Sellers always provide buyers with valuations. This is a common practice.

I don't trust $14 services like that GoDaddy's valuation service. Nobody will do a research for $14. We need a real manual service.

I researched several companies and here are the results:

I wanted to engage AccurateDomains.com as appraiser but looks like this company has very bad reputation
Just read this blog
http://accuratedomains.blogspot.com/
So I'm not going to accept this fraudulent service.

I also considered www.Afternic.com, but now it's clear their service is not reliable enough.
Just read this:
http://www.igoldrush.com/links3.htm
"Capsule Review: After lots of complaints, Afternic is no longer a recommended service. We will re-review the service in the near future."

Another complaint
http://www.out-law.com/page-1630

I was told about manual research service from http://www.DomainMart.com. It costs - $200/hour.

Many experienced sellers suggested me www.DomainExplorer.org as a trustworth manual service. They charge per name not per hour. I've read only positive comments about them.
THIS IS A 100% DOMAIN NAME APPRAISAL SCAM ATTEMPT

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=532200

BTW: he referred to a name I registered just last week at GoDaddy.com .

Got one of these also, this time from an Andrew Murphy. After googling the senders domain name and finding this thread, I sent a response.

Andrew,

Thank you for your interest.
Feel free to make an initial offer at Sedo.com using the make offer
function.

Given the obvious value of this domain, your offer will be considered
based on my evaluation of the domains value and the sincerity of your
initial bid. If the offer falls significantly below my estimation of
value then there will be no further negotiations. Although I am open
and welcome to further refinement of the proposal with those who do
truly understand the innate value of this domain, I do not have time to
negotiate with insincere bidders.

If you are having difficulty determining a reasonable opening bid, I
suggest that you use an automated appraisal tool or consult with an
independent appraisal firm of your selection and take into
considerations the applications and the keyword, unique market value and
the developing interest in the extension itself. All burden for
accurate appraisals for opening offers rests with the buyer, as I am
confident in my estimation of both the domains market value and
appraisal sources. A fair opening offer is best for everyone involved,
so due diligence on your behalf is recommended.

Should I find your initial offer at sedo.com to be sincere and
legitimate then we can come to a meeting of interests in the final sale
price. Should I find your offer to be substantially reasonable and fair
then I will respond with a likewise reasonable counter-offer in the
hopes that we will quickly come to terms. If I am of the opinion that
your initial offer is completely fair then I may accept your offer
outright. If it is clear that your offer is considerably below market
value I will either decline or simply send xxxxx.tv to auction.

At this time, I am not considering offers outside the sedo marketplace,
as I find that there are significant security benefits for all parties
involved by using a reputable brokerage system, and do not feel that it
is right to attempt to circumvent the agreements I have made with sedo.
I trust that you will honor the integrity of the system and do your best
in facilitating a successful transaction for all involved parties.

With this in mind, feel free to submit your offer
(link)

Thank you

Additional Information:
This domain is part of the rapidly rising dot tv extension, the benefits
and future value of which I am sure you are aware of. xxxxx.tv has
unique potential for a discerning investor. Unlike many of the domains
in the dot tv arena, this domain is unencumbered by excessive renewal
fees, and is in fact available at standard renewal fees. This is a
tremendous advantage for anyone interested in a long term ownership
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=532200
plan.

Thought it might be fun to play around with a bit if I get a response...

I just got an email from these people again too, they seem to have been running the same scam for quite some time now.

By the way DOMAINS BY PROXY is not a company owned by the scammer/s, It is the name & address of the company GODADDY uses for their Private Whois service.

Thanx for Posting this thread!!!

This (murphy@investment.net) is DEFINITELY a NP member...
I just recently acquired a domain, and I received these emails.
Yes I was a little suspicious after the 2nd reply.
Then I came here to search for this knucklehead (Andrew Murphy)
or his silly EliteInvestment.net,
and that brings me to THIS thread.

So, just be aware NP'ers...
This 2nd email is from TODAY!!!

He is still up to no good!

Oh by the way, to the O.P.

Thank You!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

I really like this domain,
and wanted to develop it as a category specific site...
but
I am curious as to your offer?

Thanks.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry for delay with answer. Our family was celebrating newborn child of my sister.

Can you accept 5,000 USD?

Do you sell domain with a web site or just the name?

Domain without content is ok with me. Web site is not necessary.

Have you had your domain names evaluated in the past? I mean domain appraisals. Without valuation we cannot be sure in the sale price. It's very important for me in terms of reselling too. But we must engage a valuation company with REAL manual service. So I will only accept valuations from independent sources I and my partners trust.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies.

Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and buyers:
http://domainblog.007sites.com/587412.htm

If, for example, the valuation comes higher you can adjust your asking price accordingly. It will be fair. I also hope you can give me 12% - 15% discount.

After you send me the valuation via email (usually it takes 1-2 days to obtain it) we'll continue our negotiations.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

Looking forward to your reply.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Congrats on your sisters newborn baby.

I have my own methods for appraisals,
and I do believe $5000.00
is a fair and acceptable offer for such a category specific
domain with a very lucrative future.

If you are serious, and time is of the essence,
I will try to accomodate, considering I have alot
of various plans this weekend.

My preferred method of payment is PayPal.

Thank You.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOL,

Yes, I admit I was excited for a minute...
Silly Me!!!

Watch out for this idiot!

OMG,
This NUT does not give up!!!

I just Posted in this thread, a couple of hours ago about his emails

One introducing himself to me.
Then My Response.
Then His response,
Then my response.

That is a total of 4 emails back n forth.

Well, I just got his 3rd email to me...

Thank you for congratulations!

It's a standard practice to show independent valuation to buyers/resellers.
Nobody will do business without it. I'm a businessman and have no intention
of changing rules which help both parties to avoid additional risks.

Of course, investors never take into account auto-generated vlauations. So
manual valuation is a "must" too.

I read the following information about appraisals at:
http://domainblog.007sites.com/587412.htm

Thank you for understanding. I'm looking forward to do business with you.

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=532200

You offered $5000...
Now you are needing me to pay for an appraisal, huh?
LOL.

I'll tell you what.
You can have the domain for $4500,
and you can keep the $500 for your next scam, ok?

I have mainly seen these type of emails go to New Registrations. They simply get a list of domain names that were newly registered and target these people. I have also seen this scam be sent to people who newly list domain names on Sedo.

The Signature on the email is also a give away and would look similar to something like this:

George Sterling
President
PHR LLC

Or

Regards,
Michael E Myers
Vice President
OB Securities LLC

The latest one to be going around is from TheOnlineBrokerage.com . Some other domains used are: EasyNameSale.com, EliteInvestment.net, ToughGuy.net
