You would still have to pay! You have to have been in the country 90 days to qualify for medical coverage by the provincial governments. I believe that medical and dental should be totally free as it is in a number of European countries. This would have the effect of people becoming healthier and thus eventually lead to needing less healthcare and there being less strain on the system. My main gripe with the Canadian system is the lack of free dental care especially for younger people. There must be many suffering in silence as their teeth gradually decay unabated which can, and does, lead to more serious health problems.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This is one of those threads I really feel hits home to a lot of folks. I see the non-U.S folks voicing their opinions as well as U.S folks. Let me first start off replying to GF.

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=518126 Thank You. Thank you has2hands for the personal..directed to ME post.
You can say your a domainer but in my personal view their's many different kinds of domainers. I'm a parker.. I make my dough from parking. Last 12 months was around $150k and I'm just learning so I'm quite excited to see what next year brings, I'm thinking triple that. A couple of you mentioned -if I make enough- I live in the U.S so right now things are very expensive to me because the dollar is so weak but I can manage it. I have a few $ saved from domaining but just hate to dish out that $700 per month... I know it could hit me in a bad way but I'm still undecided on what I'll do. I'm a U.S citizen and love Canada, Let a country ever attack Canada and see who's there. I think I'll go ahead and get the insurance soon, my family deserves it with out a doubt. Hopefully not, but maybe 1 day it will pay off, or maybe I'll just go to Canada

![]() ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=518126 Seeing the average costs mentioned is scary, probably why medical tourism is getting so big here in India. I have family medical cover which costs peanuts, probably what you pay in a month is what i pay in a year. Coverage provided is around $10k per person. Plus medical care is a lot cheaper here... I got a root canal done for $75 and i've heard of people in the family getting angioplasty's for less than $5k.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I do not live in US but I have hefty insurances of myself and my wife. Took it for tax exemption purposes. But what I felt was that my family really don't need that insurance money. Why not just put that money of premiums in the bank so they can sign a check and withdraw it. Because once I am gone who knows WTH those insurance companies will do. Will they pay? Will they make excuses etc. etc. Moreover a full time and well settled domainer earns a nice amount of money that he would not even spit on insurance money.

From what I've seen it looks like good health insurance for a family of 4, "wife, daughter, son & myself" will run between $500 for questionable maybe not so good insurance to around $700.00 for good insurance at a recognized company. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=518126 At $700 per month or $8,400 per year it's far more than we spent last year at the doctors office, around $8,200 more in fact. Only if something far more serious than a common cold or the flu happens will it pay for it's self, which certainly can happen. It really concerns me not having it but haven't taken the plunge yet. My daughter is 8 and my son is turning 18 next month but is already in college so I think I can get him on the insurance as well since he's in school. So my question is to you other full timers. Do you have family health insurance and if so @ what kind of rates and company? Dave C |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Early sixties and living in Thailand, wifey is 50. I have had two life threatening illnesses in the last 12 years, wifey just recovered from TB - insurance is essential although we are covered for hospitalization only not out patient treatment. Fotunately medical insurance here is relatively cheap as is hospital care- we are with AIG , but the standards of care are also very high and comparable with most "developed" countries.Just the two of us (And three dogs) and we are both retired, so very lucky in many respects. |
