I've owned domains for several years, but I am new to the whole idea of domaining. I was using EstiBot earlier, and I was just wondering how accurate it really is? Is it very good information to go on?
Estibot is a GREAT service that can give you a an indicator of value. It by no means can tell you what the domain is worth -- nothing and no one can tell you this accurately except for one person: the buyer. Estibot is often in the ballpark with estimated values, but many times, it's much too high or much too low. You need to take any appraisal with a grain of salt. Use the estimate as a basis for more research.

I use Estibot to see how many google, overture and wordtracker results a domain gets. Then I use google keywords, google traffic estimator and tools like that to see if there are indeed enough searches and related keywords and how much competition and ppc these have.
I also use my gut instinct alot, and that is probably not such a good idea . Just kidding, I think it helps if you believe in a domain but the figures should always support this belief.
Anyway, threads like yours are posted before. Do a search and you'll find similar responses. Not being nasty, just some advise.
They seem fairly accurate for lower quality LLL.com's and are able to judge if a keyword domain is worth much or not, however not usually as accurate, throw some screwballs at it with LLLL.com's or hyphens (car-sex.com $130 000?)
it's one of the "must" tools that needs to be used in calculating value for your domain but not the end in itself, meaning you need other tools as well, and indicator tools and also advises from domainer (human beings) as software alone can't do all the trick.
