Great topic MIR - i'm doing as you suggest and developing a lot of my names.
Funny thing is, what started out as me wanting to just shove up 5 page minisites now has me excited about the names, so they are becoming more.
This is good for multiple things: Increase in earnings from adsense and affiliates, SE ranking as the site has good valuable content, Great Logos that show the name off, and an increased audience who may be interested in the name. Development costs should also be recouped pretty quickly as well if my prior experiences are anything to go by.
Keep up the great posts. I'm interested in seeing some of the sites you've developed as i'm looking for a new developer to work with on some larger projects.
