If it ever becomes an opponent to google then im sure it will be a matter of time before someone figures out how it works out and will set the results just like anywhere else.
Someone brought up a good point: Isn't Cuil how search engines of the past used to work? Wasn't Google created to get away from searches based solely on content?
Technically, they would be known in Ireland as 'gobsh1tes'. The old Irish word for knowledge is Eolas. The Irish word for wisdom is Feasa. As for that rubbish about Fionn McCool (Fhionn MacChumaill in Irish), Coill is the Irish for Hazel. The word 'cuil' is the Irish for fly or bug.
And as for the brand integrity of their domains - they really need some good IP advice on how to protect both their brand and choose a good domain. One typo is definitely not safe for work.
great, get a LLLL or short domain, but with 33 million backing why not get cool.com? or kewl.com at least or somthing completely different
plus they should have nailed the major cctlds etc also on startup if not, which they didnt
not sure if will be huge but no doubt will do well although i dont like the layout or the black, or results lol
actually one good thing is wikipedia doesnt come top all time, is actually highly irritating when wikipedia tops all time on google, wikipedia is virtually a search engine in its own right and people can go there to get exacting info on a subject if they like (and search there)rather than cluttering up the results, the lack of wikipedia is one big plus imo
Today, since I also have been finding Cuil to have less wikipedia-centric results, I used it and was able to more quickly and clearly determine possible end users for two new handregs.
There is also the real possibility that Cuil will be used side by side with Google for many. It's like facebook/myspace. A lot of people use both each having it's unique function.
Also...the more I type Cuil the better I like it. I think it's a fast type on a keyboard and I have yet to misspell it. The UIL on a keyboard imho make it a good type. It doesn't pass the radio test but it does pass the keyboard one.
cuil.com is nothing more then great PR. Their results are horrible (0 result for eg. COBOL). Google is unbeaten tzar of search engines now and in the future imo.
