The .org name seems to have sold for approx US$1,600+ (EU1,250) at Sedo on Apr/2/2009 .

Only 2 bidders for the .org at Sedo with an initial bid of EU1,000 but a bigger venue too.

The .us sale today was a real deal for the buyer.

Yep so maybe people (including myself) will stop being surprised when they see domains go so low there. On that topic, instead of mass advertising to the domain community shouldn't bido be spending ad dollars trying to look for startups, VC's and real money buyers to frequent the site and offer sellers a better service? From what I can see bido has started a buzz about their domain auctions and their target audience is domainers...

Agreed with sdsinc. I read a blog post on this very topic the other day; I think selling to domainers need to be thought of as separate from selling to endusers. A domainer, by definition, is going to get the cheapest price he or she can. They're not going to pay what an enduser will pay for the domain, and there is still a disconnect (IMHO) between domainers and endusers.

I was watching the GoDaddy Expiring auctions for Denver.us, Pittsburgh.us, Austin.us, SanAntonio.us, and Memphis.us...I didn't think they were scheduled to end already, I thought there was 12 more hours or so but I logged in today and they disappeared, must have ended. Does anyone know what they went for? Last I saw SanAntonio.us was leading the pack at over $6000

The owner renewed them. I don't have proof, but I have a feeling those bids were fake. The owner, Robert Simpson owns a lot of top quality domains he would never let expire. So the domains should not have been in auction in the first place. Now, I don't know if Robert Simson deliberately let them expire to test the waters on their value and then reclaimed them at $80 each (that's one expensive appraisal!) or he had some sort of agreement with GoDaddy.

Also, NO ONE bids $X,XXX on .US domains days before the auctions end, even if the names are top GEOs! So.. somewhere, there is something fishy about all this.

They disappeared because the original owner renewed them. I called him last week and he said that he was meaning to renew them, but just hadn't gotten around to it yet. He didn't seem very interested in selling them either. He still hasn't renewed annapolis.us, but GD gives him up to a week after the auctions end to reclaim the domain name.

Last night I placed a $205 proxy bid on Pool for jeff.us. It ended up going for $215 today. That same thing happened to me a few days ago with pic.us. Oh well.

There are many great .US ending on TDNAM tomorrow. But if previous years are indication, there will be a bidding frenzy and prices will go high.

i noticed dozens of lll.us that can't be sold on dnf for $15 each

i personally dont think the lll.us buyout will hold

i don't know too much about the .us market but doesnt look very healthy imho
