There is no doubt that the competition for .US has increased.

I targeted 4 .US today and lost all of them. One was Cookware.us as well.

Hollywood.us was a steal at $5,722.00. The studios missed out on buying a great domain.

I worked on the set of a Chrysler commercial years ago. I remember talking with one of the producers/directors of the movie Carrie. Yeah, I was in the bidding at the end and in retrospect probably should have gone a little higher. It is an excellent domain with more branding value than the GEO term itself.

I guess someone other than myself notices the value in using the phrase "us" as in you and I in the name, not just as U.S. in United States.

Well, the folks who commented that this sale was too low may get another chance to bid on it again. I notice that it is now on Sedo auction at a current bid of $499 (reserve met). It ends 8/13, and will be interesting how it does vs. 2 months ago.

Also, this domain has changed hands in the forums a number of times previously. Even Fonzie used to own it. It would be interesting if anyone wants to offer the date and price of a previous sale. I also found this this slightly amusing logo for the domain.

Ass.us sold for $988 at Sedo auction on June 11 and just sold again on Sedo auction (8/13) for $1,500. Obviously we can't extrapolate that to the whole .US market, but a 50% gain on the same domain name at the same venue in just 2 months is always a good sign.

And i did say the earlier sale was lower that expected, even the current sale it nothing to get too excited about tbh - the domain was registered in 2002, its one of the top keywords in adult terms and still only sold for $1500.

While things are looking up for .us, its nowhere even close to .de / .co.uk / .in or even likely to be in the near future.

Key.us has a bid of $2500 at sedo as of today, ass.us sold way to cheaply, and i would not be surprised if it sold again to an end user for treble what it sold for.

evan thats a bargain,

i had the chance to buy it, but sadly passed on it.
