But you of course haven't blown speculative cash on your investments, no, cause 'everyone' is jumping on and using '.web.com'. Yes you can laugh at others and their domain investments, as 'you have the vision' in domain extensions that no one else does. And proudly display that savy too!
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=488225

You probably are heavily invested in .us.com's too.

(good grief!)

I still remember all that speculative cash I blew on new.net domains

when it seemed to be taking off and was commonly available.

This may repeat itself with some new vTLDs and and make a $200,000

loss look like peanuts.

I think its funny how naysayers can't make up their minds. You said in 2007 that .mobi was dead (.mobi is still here and growing!). You said in 2008 that due to the iphone .mobi was dead (.mobi is still here and growing!). You are now predicting in 2009 .mobi will be dead due to ICANN extention decisions (i don't know if .mobi will be dead, but the trends are looking good on .mobi side for staying alive). Care to predict what you will say will kill .mobi in 2010??? 2011??? You seem to know all but have gotten nothing right.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=488225

Until .mobi is nonexistent the mods should force those using any affiliated words with ".mobi being dead" to stop. You are not stating facts. I'm ok with you questioning the future of .mobi. I believe everything should be questioned, but you only make yourself look like you have the IQ of a box of rocks.

As for mobile subdomain, I don't think people type in the subdomain in order to get into mobile version of the site. A lot of the sites with mobile.company.com or m.company.com made it so that you only need to go to company.com using your mobile device to be automatically redirected to mobile/m.company.com.
Companies understand that most people are probably going to either direct type-in their dotcom and find a mobile link or find their site via a search engine. In both instances it doesn't matter where the mobile version of the site resides. The companies choosing to use m.company.com see the value of continually branding their main site. They probably don't see a need to have multiple domains and to help brand mobi instead of their own site. If you see an mdot site it's hard to forget. I would love to see some testing on the mental differences of surfers between the two.

Take your eyes of the computer after you read this.

Without doing any searches come up with 20 .mobis you know of, 20 m.coms, 20 mobile.coms, 20 wap.coms.

When you are done how many did you come up with for each extention and did you get their mobile address absolutely perfect? If you are going to use the excuse you don't know of 20 .mobis you are full of crap. You follow this forum enough to most likely come up with 50 .mobis.

That's the whole problem though -- "if you follow this forum"

I for one can't name 20 .mobi website which have not been mentioned in this forum -- heck, I can't even name 10. For what it's worth I can't name 10 .wap's, 10 .m's, etc either.

The mobile web is still new. It's foolish to say .mobi can't be profitable for development, but that goes for every extension, really. There are .cc websites which make $1000/month, there are .us websites making $10000+/month, yet most people would call both of those extensions failures.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=488225

.mobi is a good extension for development imho -- it's fairly memorable and the link between "mobile" and "mobi" is made by most non-domainers I've polled relatively quickly.

I don't see much of an aftermarket for .mobi at present nor do I see one developing anytime in the near future. That said, I see more and more people turning a profit off their developed .mobis...

one of many examples.
visit blackberry too
eg: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/builtfo.../financial.jsp

one .mobi being promoted on their site in financial section, another word.com/mobile

its the way it's gonna be imo
this wont be a vhs/betamax war with one winner imo, there will be a variety of flavours, and all the time developed sites are out there, they will stay out there and gain popularity, in all genres

I have seen many for sale in the $65-$75 range lately. Now is a great time to be a buyer but a bad time to be a seller. Its not just mobi prices that are down, all domains in general seem to have been selling for a lot less.
Look at LLL.biz prices I think LLL.mobi yet have great potential for the price drop. For me ZTW.biz has value while ZTW.mobi - is a regfee. I haven't seen any .mobi site since its introduction in my ordinary internet life. And even traveling.... alas for mobi enthusiasts I used my notebook and browsed normal sites instead of mobile crap versions.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=488225

But LLL.mobi price drop has very bad aftermath to the whole domain industry IMHO. This is because rich became richer (I think biggest holders of LLL.mobis already sold out their names) and poor became poorer
