well, we're all humans, i tend to be guilty on these things from time to time, if we're fed with constant luxuries, we tend to forget the simple things in life are the ones that are important.

Thanks for reminding us. These images are a powerful and disturbing reminder that so many governments especially in Africa don't care for their people. The west has donated billions in aid which lands up mostly into these dictators and their families fat bank accounts. Once we rid ourselves of these incompetent, corrupt and criminal governments then we will start seeing less and less of these disturbing pictures.

This stuff is starting to annoy me.
I agree with the sentiment of it, sure we should be happy for what we have, but when you're used to a good lifestyle and something goes wrong, you want to be back in that good lifestyle, you don't think, "Oh well, there's Africans starving, I'm glad stuffs going wrong".

People should stop making stuff like this and actually help, what does this image do?

These images are SHOWING you that there is not only the happy go lucky lifestyle that you so much preferr, and they are helping to raise awareness even sometimes they are pretty grafic but it is better to see the real thing

And nobody should think "i am glad stuff goes wrong" but knowing about these problem and not ignoring can help you sometimes when your own life is not going the right path, the path you take for granted...

Just my 2 cent...

Cheers

This is just saying look what you have and look what they dont have. They dont want you to say, "Oh well, there's Africans starving, I'm glad stuffs going wrong". They are just trying to get the message across that there are people out there that are worse off than you are. Obviously if you are viewing the image you prolly are better off.

Yes these types of things do help. Some people see this stuff and offer to help. I have an aunt that goes to foriegn countries and does dental work. She has been doing it for the past 5 years. FOR FREE. The reason she started doing it was because she was at some training thing and they showed pictures of peoples teeth that were really really crappy. She asked how could anyone get teeth like that? The advisor replied, they live in africa.

Yes these people need help. Here in Madeira our family, (and many others) has for the past 30 years or so gathered at least every 3 or 4 months, used clothes and shoes that we no longer use. We hand it to our local church who in turn ships it to churches in Africa, namely Angola and Mozambique.

We hope that these clothes get distributed to the needy but we are never quite sure. At the moment I have my car trunk full, to hand some more. It is a small token and doesn't require a great deal of effort. We only spend a litle bit of gas to gather and hand over these clothes, but there are lots of ways to help as Tivo mentioned in regard to his aunt which is even more charitable than what we do.

Sending money to Africa is probably the worst thing we can do as it will go directly to the pockets of the dozens of dictators there.

these images are reminders, sometimes you don't know what you don't see and experience.

but if you've been there, done that, you know.

Not true. You need to make sure that you donate to the right organizations that have high reputation.

I would never trust sending money to Africa and some other places even through the so called trusted organizations. The majority of that money never filters through to the poor and needy.

Even Food Aid gets diverted by these dictators and only a small percentage filters down to the starving. That's why so many Western governments have begun to review their Africa Aid policies that have had absolutely no results in the past 30 years or so. The reasons are obvious.

Other types of aid work better, like doctors, engineers and other skilled personel that can teach their skills so that these peaple can fend for themselves. Sort of like:

“Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime”

I saw this in email sometime ago and was so moved that I thought I will never see this kind of stuff again or I might do something with myself.

I have always loved to share and give no matter what or with whom. Sometimes even my parents and my wife get angry on me due to my actions but well still I am what I am. I am also planning a small school type thing where students will come and read and also have some food to eat. All money I am gonna give and that is what my target is. I would like my daughter and son to carry this forward and keep it going. I can't change their mentalities but yet hoping they will understand what I am telling them.

May god give me the power to help others.
