What do you guys think a good LLL.com will be worth in 5 years, or 10 years? Do you think it is worth thinking about now as something to put away for retirement? Just curious what people think? Are they more, or less guaranteed to go up in value?
a good one, i assume you meant a premium one will be worth in 5 years at least $50,000 and i will even say it is a small amount as we are watching premium be sold for $2x,xxx so i dont think it is wrong to say they can be sld for even $80,000 in five years
in ten years it is very difficult to say
yes i do
i strongly believe these names have only one way... up!
I think will be more separation between the bottom and top tier like with LLLL.com
There is no valid reason why QZX.com should be worth $8K when you can get a triple premium for about double that.
Thanks Bricio. I wish I would have been smart enough to read, and learn more, when I started in 2003. What could you have bought a good one for in 2003?
Oh well, just like wishing I would have bought lots of property when I was in my twenties, instead of home stereos, speakers, and hang gliders!
I think that low level LLL.com's (ZQV, XRQ, etc.) are approaching their ceiling. It's really hard to judge "premium" letter LLL.com's in terms of reseller pricing down the road though.
And sadly these aren't 'trees'. There are ONLY 17500+ LLL.coms in the world. Internet users / awareness is growing every second. Hence, they will keep on going UP and UP and UP!!! Until we have some great alternate to internet. imo
Comparison with trees was not because of numbers, but because of height.
I still believe the comparison was irrelevant. Prices go up and keep on going up depending on demand and supply. Supply is limited here. (Only 17500+ combos) And demand is expected to increase in the years to come. Simple as that.

Demand for whataya? For demands sake?
The economy is up and down in periods and depends on lots of factors. 3-letters are cool because of a trend inside a "small influcial group of people inside the domain industry" that says that SHORT is better.
Yes, premium 3-letters are easier to remember, but most never do anything more than park the domain hoping they will be worth 2X after a few years.
That's a very dangerous approach knowing how Internet has matured a lot since day 1.
Now is the right time to cash in and invest other places.

The vast majority of current demand is from domainers.
