Yep the game is up for .mobi a dead duck it has been since the iphone was revealed. No need whatsoever to waste your time on a crappy cut down .mobi website when you can see the real thing.

All naysayers should go here http://ignorance.mobi/category/mobi/ See if that site works on your phone and look how nice it looks on your pc. Now for you that have an iphone check it out on there and tell me what works better.

And ignorance means

"the state or fact of being ignorant : lack of knowledge, education, or awareness"

mediaadvantages will become famous soon enough

I'm just not sure why some of you are so happy about having to zoom in to scroll around and search what you are looking for. This has to be the most retarded thing I have ever heard. Would you buy a computer where you had to put 2 fingers on the screen to zoom in, then run your finger all over the place on the screen to scroll and search what you are looking for....oh and i forgot after you find the headline you are looking for, put your two fingers back on the screen and zoom out so it SOMEWHAT fits your screen.

Its so much easier to go to a site that fits the screen perfectly and i don't have to do all this crap zooming in and out. I'll admit, the iphone is a great tool.....when used for viewing sites designed for mobile. Thats what people want....they didn't go buy iphones because "the iphone can view full websites". There was an iphone study release this week where people were asked what is the best feature about the iphone. Viewing the web came in 3rd!! If consumers were so excited about viewing full sites on their iphone it would have been first....because the phone itself blows. Some of you seem to think people will browse the mobile web the same way they browse on the PC. You are sadly mistaken! The traditional computer has handled business (research) and personal (decision making) viewing to this point because it was the only option. As we move forward this will begin to separate with more personal (decision making) viewing being done on the mobile web while more business (research) viewing done a traditional computer.

I'm sure you naysayers are going to come back with....well people will get their emails and respond on their phone. You know what, you are right. So where does that leave the PC in the future??? Besides creating a powerpoint, excel, word document or work related software, I don't really see a need for it.

You can read about Bank of America's mobile banking service here. http://www.bankofamerica.com/onlineb...mobile_banking

Note their continued mention of BofA.mobi

Consider dropping the redirect argument, it's totally ridiculous.

How can you enjoy surfing when you have to move around every page with the small mobile screen, zoom in, zoom out, it's worse than car sickness.

I like the mobile websites that fit a mobile phone screen, much more user friendly.

.mobi just says a website that is tailored for your small mobile screen, so you expect a site that is more compact and narrow and easier to browse. .mobi has made a lot of inroads with companies using the extension, whether or not they redirect it isn't important. It's used for marketing so people expect the mobile experience, not a PC type site. .mobi is being used by more big companies than almost every other extension that came after .com .net and .org, so that is hardly a failure. And mobile web is still young in North America.

interesting, Ron Jackson just wrote something about subdomains in his lowdown section today...
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=484803

Those that bought with resale in mind will be sorely disappointed because there is virtually no aftermarket interest in sub-domains, aside from the occasional rare bolt of lightning from a blue sky. We will actually be reporting one of those in our next weekly sales column (a name sold at Sedo), but that doesn't change the fact that you will almost certainly go broke investing in sub-domains if you are buying them for PPC or resale purposes.

http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/low...s/06-23-08.htm

... though I have to say you have most of the best keywords in your subdomains

To all you 'naysayers': you didn't get what it was about 2 years ago, and you still don't get it - but at least the smarter ones amongst you stopped displaying their total ****ing ignorance months ago. The thicker ones it seems just keep on spewing the drivel....

.mobi obsolete, because of a new device - ****ing idiots! It's like saying carpet's obsolete because of linoleum.

Now, get back to concentrating on non-acheiving....

I am just currious why naysayers are so jealous.

all comments will be welcomed. But it will be interesting to see why people do not like .mobi.

.mobi

This entire argument that .mobi is dead and absolutely useless reminds me of a small technological event well over 100 years ago.

It was by the Wizard of Menlo Park (Thomas Edison). Yes, that light bulb thing.

It was " going to be dangerous and cause fires. "

Of course, that was the candle-makers talking.

You know what his idea did? Turned candle-making into a hobby!

Doc

P.S. Just remember, if Edison didn't invent the light bulb, we would all be watching TV in the dark!!!

What kind of mobi's do you people have ?

My mobi's are selling like hotcakes, I only wish now that I invested a lot more during the landrush.

If your not selling by now maybe you need to do some spring cleaning and decrease your reg fees.

There is an article today in the dutch newspaper"de volkskrant" which states that specially designed websites for the mobile phone/pda are getting very popular.
At least 1.6 million people (10 % of the total population) visits one of these sites one or more times a month.
The use of the mobile internet in The Netherlands has been growing with 30-40 % a year.
The article does not mention what extensions these specially for the mobile web designed signed sites have.
As it says"specially designed for the smaller screens"
one could draw conclusions, but I have no idea whether those conclusions would be justified.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=484803
The growth has to do with faster connections, better phones, better mobile searchengines and the development of flat free plans, which makes surfing affordable.
There is still a discrepancy between what people want on their mobile phones and what is being offered, meaning that the possiblities for growth of the mobile net are still big.
