The double TV thing always strikes me as weird, but I think thats purely a visual thing. Search wise its hard to predict what people will actually do, trends seem to favor "site tv" vs. "site.tv" for the ones I checked, whether that will change when familiarity with the extension increases is a tough call. I think ultimately the very big players will want site.tv just for clear identity and can advertise through other channels.
The tv.tv thing will be appealing for those who are looking to capitalize directly on search engine responses. Both have good potential, for different reasons, but a pure .tv will be considered prime real estate by those who can do external branding to get raw type in traffic. Non search engine methods (banners, etc) will also be more appealing visually on the pure .tv extension.
TV.tv will be more visually palatable for things associated with TV than things which do not yet have a hard association, or for which one cannot be built early. Its an interesting dilemna and there will probably be winners on both sides of the coin.
That said, I think it is more likely that someone will search for macau than macau tv, even when .tv is mainstream. MacauTV.tv does have the advantage of also being a geo, which is a bonus.
Will leave it up to the experts to make the call. Those are naturally, just my impressions. |
