| MX record is not uniform Hi all,
I administer a domain name, namely editiomediterranica*hu. I asked the hosting company to change the MX record in order to use it with Google Apps Mail. And for some reason the MX record is now different depending on where are you querying it from. I used the following test: http://www.websitepulse.com/help/te...ookup-test.html
From Seattle it says Google but from Munich it says the old mail server. What is the problem? Why didn't the new MX record spread out to all DNS servers? It was changed about a month ago.
Thank you for you help! |

| Hmmm..thats a good question. I would definitely think that a month would be plenty of time to replicate in DNS. Have you opened a support ticket with your hosting provider yet? Were they not helpful ? |

| You have the following nameservers set for your domain:
editiomediterranica.hu
ns.deninet.hu
editiomediterranica.hu is returning aspmx.l.google.com. as the MX record (good).
ns.deninet.hu is returning mail.editiomediterranica.hu. as the MX record (bad).
Either your nameservers are set incorrectly, or your DNS entries on ns.deninet.hu are configured incorrectly. |

| Thank you all again. The provider has changed the MX record, it is uniform now. But there's still one problem.
The website running on this domain has a script that sends emails to a mailbox on the same domain using PHP mail(). (Order confirmation emails.) The emails sent by the script still end up in the old mailbox that originally came with the domain and the webspace, and not in the Google mailbox. Emails sent from any other source land at Google. Is this because the old mailbox is hosted on the same server as the script and it doesn't even look for the MX record, just drops the email in the local mailbox? What can I do to prevent this and send emails to the Google account?
Thanks a lot! |

| Your web is configured incorrectly (IMO - your admin may disagree ).
You could try to persuade them to change their mail server configuration to send to MX records rather than delivering to the local address.
Alternatively, you could bypass their mail server and go straight to Google's using this: http://www.xpertmailer.com/
See the second example on the "Examples" page.
