Sorry to hear about your problems :td: ALWAYS, AWLAYS make full backups (files, databases, etc) every few days (or major changes) - NO MATTER WHO HOST IS (Host doesn't give you control-panel tools to do that - LEAVE THEM!).
I can't recommend hosting, sorry , as I don't want to put-off those I do host. I don't, at this time, host for the public at-large, and couldn't be totally impartial if I did.
NamePros uses a few dedicated servers. They get them from the datacenters of SoftLayer.com. For those seeking a dedicated server solution, I highly recommend Softlayer;)
Best of luck in sorting out the issue. Hopefully some NPers can point you in the right direction towards a more reliable VPS or shared-hosting solution.

i made backups.. even that is not working..

did namepros start with dedicated server.. does it make sense to start with a dedicated server?

Hi Mir,

I just heard about your issue. That's very sad indeed. This happens rarely and usually only occurs if the hosting company is a basement driven entity. However this stuff this does occur, but I'm just wondering if the backups you do have are actually "good" but you're not sure what to do with them?

PS - if you would like to pause your campaign at ILance until this issue is resolved you are more than welcome to.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Regards,
Peter

As for a host recommendation. We use http://www.dedicatednow.com with their $70 per month Dual Core 2.8Ghz machines. They are fast, their support is TOP notch and costs you an extra $30 per month for fully managed server.

You are the best, please do stop the campaign.. i wish i had that option with all advertisers.. this is killing me 60 hours no sleep...

i did everything right.. and yet the hosting company has failed to deliver a simple server migration successfully ... i had started to get the forum active.. .. a

... i cant find any information for the best available hosting, do i need to go virtual or dedicated... what makes more sense... and who should i choose....

im on softlayer, the minimum cost is 200+

im so confused and frustrated ... :(

psalzmann 05-13-2008 12:16 PM

I updated my post above. $70 would be a more cost effective move. Dedicatednow.com is great. Check em out.

PS - I've just checked. When you get a chance, just login to your advertising account and click the "Pause" link.

Let me know how you make out. Sorry for your troubles.

Try Server Intellect. We have been with many hosting companies through the years. We found that Netcraft's assessment of Server Intellect was right on target. They really do know what they are doing; they care about their customers and have excellent customer service and tech support.http://www.serverintellect.com/host...dowsserver2008/

If an unmanaged VPS would be enough for you, check out http://tagbridge.net

They got datacenters in both US and UK so you can choose what suits you better. I've had a VPS wih them for a while now and they are reliable. They also got friendly support.

After 4 days of hell with issues as simple email log in, and now the loss of my

My launch, my mission, objective, goal has been bashed now by a recent reply from the hosting company.

They turned around and now claim they already fixed the issue this morning. If a forum is online... does that mean its 100% online!? In my case, NO, the index.php page loads up.. but when you post, reply, click on buttons.. major erros and blank pages pop up.. and they are now claiming they are correct..

This is a awful and sad day for me. I have been trashed and bashed and left to rot.

I'm in the process to re-launching the forum with another company -

- loosing Threads: 70, Posts: 212, Members: 30, Active Members: 30 and a loss of $2000 US in advertising cost.

I will expose a full review about this hosting company in the next 24-48 hours. They destroyed my forum and this is what they turn around and say:

Matt Lahr: Mir, I'm not trying to come off like a jerk here, however I can see in the the log files from earlier that Branden had fixed the forum earlier today, but then you deleted everything.

It appears it is fixed in there logs... Yes, but do you also see an index about me mentioning the multiple errors? blank pages, post not being recorded...

ddaybofb you are my witness... did you not have problems? You are the most active member on the forum...

weblord 05-13-2008 03:30 PM

im sorry to know your lost. try hosting at softlayer.com or layeredtech.com but still you need a staff or server admin to run it for you.

xXx DOMAINER xXx 05-13-2008 03:57 PM

im so angry... :( :( :( now i need to get all my domains out and re launch from scratch.. this is UNFAIR

Mir:
Sorry you had trouble. If I can add my 2 cents worth for a great hosting company I would recomend: Host Eazy: http://www.hosteazy.com/ Their support is out of this world and the prices are good.

alemcherry 05-14-2008 09:04 AM

Most of the good hosts take daily/weekly updates and keep it for up to a month. That means you will ahve atleast 2-3 backups at any time. Even if one of them is corrupted, no big deal.

But ultimately it is your site and your resposnsibility to keep backups.

In this case, I assume there is some simple error like connection string etc. rather than a case of corrupted file. You may get it examined by a programmer.
