The internationally accepted abbreviation for Rio de Janeiro is "Rio" not "Janeiro".

I note that putting "Janeiro" into Google search gives a return of 100m+ where as "Rio de Janeiro" gives a return of 60m+.

IMO, these metrics are not what matters. What matters is what the capital city of Brazil is referred to as, and that's either its correct name "Rio de Janeiro" or its abbreviated name "Rio".

Probably not what you wanted to hear and its just my opinion.
