I used AVG Free for awhile before receiving McAfee with my cable subcription. For the price, ($0
) it was a decent anti-virus.
I would also suggest combining it with free adware software such as AdAware and free firewall software like ZoneAlarm.

I root for avast too, but comodo slows down your machine...and is anoying with all the recurring questions when you install something....it also blocks all my porn sites i visit, LOL (j/k)
