Worth of <Sports>.tv domains like soccer.tv cricket.tv baseball.tv

Hey Guys,

Could you throw some light on how much sports.tv domains like cricket.tv
soccer.tv baseball.tv might be worth ?

I have a very exclusive sport.tv domain and wanted to get an idea. It has a huge massive market with billions of money invested anually

Thanks

smashfactory 05-06-2008 10:04 AM

hard to say- there is a difference in like tennis, and football

TheBulldog 05-06-2008 10:46 AM

well if it is arenafootball.tv then not nearly as much as one of the main ones.

You would have to tell us to know for sure, but unless you have football, tennis, soccer, boxing, baseball, hockey, cricket, then I would say it is worth a quarter of those.

krypton81 05-06-2008 11:07 AM

no i have the real sport. Not any club or anything. Just the real deal.

Do you think cricket.tv will be worth 500k ?

krypton81 05-06-2008 11:10 AM

If you have Cricket.TV, then I bet this is the good time to sell. Twenty20 series is live, and sponsors have already spent millions of dollars for their dream teams. :)

BCCI is said to have raised a total of $ 1.749 billion (Rs 6996 crore) through the team auction.

During the first and fifth year of IPL, the eight team owners will get 80 per cent of the total broadcasting revenues and 60 per cent from year six onwards. As per industry estimates, roughly $6-7 million is what each franchise owners will earn each year from broadcasting revenues alone.

Who knows, cricket.tv may even go up to 1000K, if an interested party from India notice it.

All the best! :)

I've managed to find two previous big sales of <sports>.tv domains :

golf.tv $600,000 on 2003-02-01 (Private Sale)
fussball.tv $28,367 on 2008-03-12 (Sedo)

antonis12 05-06-2008 11:48 AM

i would worry a bit about the "big sports" like football.tv.

how would one get licensed content for it? isn't the great content going to end up on nfl.tv or fifa.tv or premierleague.tv if it goes to a .tv?

but maybe i am lacking in imagination

Are you claiming to own cricket.tv? This is a $5250/yr premium reg'd to Servcorp in Australia and I'm sure they still own it.

krypton81 05-06-2008 11:52 AM

No i dont own cricket.Tv

The only way anyone could give you an appraisal would be to let us know what the name is.

I've just received a PM from the thread starter, which contains the name he mentioned here. Not a true generic name like Hockey, Cricket, football etc.

dalBono 05-06-2008 02:45 PM

wow, this is what i wanted to know,
just started a thread minutes ago ...

Here

jeffoverman 05-06-2008 02:47 PM

If we don't know the name are we suppose to help you lol.

Love how people start a thread and say I can't discuss name, I can't give name, etc etc

Then a poster says its not a top notch name or high profile name

So a 100k name vs a 50 to 250 dollar name at best.

We tried helping you out but what are we suppose to tell you. Prime names vs not much money name.

???? I am lost in this thread lol

virtuali 05-06-2008 03:23 PM

I agree, it is much to vague to say how much with "this" be worth and then say it is not the name you want appraised. This doesnt make any sense and is a waste of posters time IMO. If you want an appraisel ask for one in the appraisel section with the exact name.

developed - any could do well

even if the domain is not an amazing keyword - well develop .TV's like www.JumpOff.tv do earn great revenue - with is a concept based TLD

that throws things off because the original post compared it to generic names

evirtual1 05-06-2008 10:21 PM

Is it .......... badminton ??

jeffoverman 05-06-2008 10:26 PM

edit and under my best behavior lol

Without knowing the name nobody can give you an accurate range.

bennyboy 05-07-2008 03:35 AM

I can only assum that Krypton has an offer for his name, but doesn't want to risk the bidder seeing the valuation. But there is a big difference between cricket, and lets say lacrosse, and baseball and rounders!!!
I think that one of the big sports like football.tv would be worth xxx,ooo

I don't think you can buy any major sport .tv domain for xxx,xxx

.tv 05-07-2008 06:30 AM

The thread starter preferred to not to disclose the name. The name is a genre of a particular sport, like Euro Cup in Football, ATP in Tennis etc. Nothing more. As per the current .tv aftermarket conditions, I would say it worths up to mid $x,xx and probably more if developed.

bigcassgbr 05-07-2008 06:51 AM

I renewed LawnTennis.tv

I had to renew LawnTennis.tv today. I actually contemplated not doing it but I feel "sports and Dot tv are a winning combination and seeing the thread - gave me that extra impetus to hold on to it
