I'll get back to private messages and posts in this thread shortly, this is something which I need to deal with and set straight now.
As Kate said ever so well, reputation is your best asset in this business. I do everything I can to protect mine at all costs.
Things do sometimes come up. It's happened to me and I'm sure many others here and I'm well aware of that - I don't think most people who know me would consider me an unreasonable person. There was more to this story than has yet been told (see what follows below).
The buyer paid for this purchase immediately and you took 6 days to respond. That in itself is grounds for a negative feedback imho. That's very unprofessional in it's own right. If you know you're going to be away, why wouldn't you have started your auction when you returned or made it for a different length of time? You had many options here -- you could have sent me a private message or email and I would have been happy to inform the buyer why you weren't responding instead of leaving them wondering what was going on.
After responding to the buyer and the buyer responding back that very day, you proceeded to not respond back to the buyer for a further 10 days, despite 3 private messages from the buyer probably wondering if you were still alive.
BQB sends out emails notifying members when they've received private messages on BQB and I know very well that Gmail isn't blocking these automated messages, so I don't buy any excuse of "I don't check BQB often" unless you don't check your email often either, which again would be highly unprofessional if you're conducting business in an atomosphere surrounded by other domainers. This isn't just BQB - stretch a transaction for 20+ days on Sedo or Afternic and back out after that and you won't find them very happy with your behavior either.
You didn't just back out of a deal here, you wasted a considerable amount of my and the buyer's time. The buyer sent me emails asking if I knew of some way to reach you, I spent my time trying to help the buyer get in contact with you and finish this sale off -- I have better things to do than help buyers contact sellers who are intentionally making themselves difficult to be reached.
You claimed your Paypal account couldn't receive funds and this is why you backed out initially -- this sir is a Lie and I don't like liars. Paypal places limits on the sending of funds, not receiving. And wouldn't you check this out before making a sale? Too many "coincidences" in this one. You claimed you needed to verify your account to receive more money. Even if that was the case, why wouldn't you have done that between the 6 days you took before responding to the initial inquiry or between the 10 days you spent doing something other than responding to the buyer's second inquiry?
And if this June 4th response to the buyer on BQB says anything to me, it's that you made up your mind that you weren't going to follow through with the transaction on May 18th. Had you issued an apology and full refund, I would have agreed to letting you stay on with a negative feedback, but let's not even try to pretend that all that happened here was that you were unwilling to follow through with a sale, because that isn't what happened.
Why didn't you say that on May 18th? Why waste 3 weeks of my and the buyer's time trying to track you down, trying to figure out how to get the money into your Paypal account.
You then had the nerve to ask the buyer to send an offer at Sedo so that Sedo could process the payment. Shall we show everyone what happened ToiletMonster? You turned the seller's offer into an auction: http://www.sedo.us/auction/auction_...ked=&partnerid=
That's why you were banned. A negative feedback for such inexcusable behavior would be laughable. Now that the details are all out, I'm sure nobody here will agree that this ban was unwarranted. You lied, you deceived, you didn't follow through with your sale, and you scammed the buyer into sending an offer (for the full sale price on BQB) on Sedo so that you could have an auction on Sedo, which we can all agree at this point will get you a higher selling price than BQB. You even took advantage of Sedo's auction system here getting a bid placed to start an auction which was never intended to be an offer, but rather to be a BIN which was previously agreed upon.
That's above and beyond anything I would ever consider anyone on this forum capable of and to be honest, I'm really tempted to ask Namepros Management to see to it that you're banned here as well -- the buyer on BQB was a Namepros member.
Good on you Reece. ToiletMonster fully deserved a ban and I know that anyone who has read this thread will not be bidding on his Sedo auction. Hopefully the word gets out and others do the same and he will get the same amount at Sedo and lose the commission fee returning less than if he accepted the deal at BQB.
Thank you mibworld and Reece for showing us TM's real face.
He is added to my "do not do business with"-list.
After seeing how you handled this issue, Reece, I would love to join and use your auction site.
But my problem is, that I can access your site from Denmark, i dont know why? I have to use an USA proxy to access the site, its weird. Either it is my ISP whos filtering or your site does not danish IP's in?
Sorry, I know I have repeated this a couple of times now, but seeing the high moral value you maintaine your site, made me even more wishing to join.
First off, thanks for your kind words and your willingness to join
Many members of this forum are a lot more knowledgeable than me when it comes to reasons for why this would be occurring. You've been upfront and honest about using a USA based proxy -- it doesn't bother me if you'd like to continue using that should we be unable to arrive at a better solution.
I'm inclined to believe the problem is likely originating from your ISP having filtered/restricted access to BQB.
Long after those LLL.coms are resold we'll remember how IREIT honorably followed through with their sale. Money can buy you a lot of things but it can buy you back a reputation you've destroyed. I choose to live by IREIT's example -- if I make a mistake, I will pay whatever it costs to make sure both parties are happy with the final outcome, even if that means selling an LLL.com for under $1000... You only have 1 chance at having a reputation in this world. You can try to hide or cover up your past but sooner or later it will catch up to you.
David, thank you for your continued support. You're a shining example of what I'm trying to achieve with BQB.
I like BQB.com so far and will be posting some names on there for sale sometime in the near future.
Toilet Monster, I understand the domain went below fair market value but that happens. It is not the buyer's fault you didn't put a reserve price on it, or start with a higher opening bid.
Great example Reece. They lost multitudes more money than ToiletMonster did and it was most likely a mistake. Despite this they still followed through which was honourable. Whereas ToiletMonster knew what he was listing the domain at and decided not to follow through when it went for less than he hoped for.
As far as his negative words towards the BQB marketplace this is absolute garbage. I have had more than 100 transactions and am extremely happy with the platform. It may not meet everyone's needs but it is my number one sales platform at the moment. If it does not meet your exact needs then use another platform, just don't go renegging on transactions if it doesn't meet your "ideal price". This will get you banned at not just BQB but any respectable domain site. I'm just sorry that Reece has had to waste his time.
2. ePassporte support will be added shortly. If anyone would like to see additional payment methods added, please let me know. Paypal aside, I'm more interested in adding additional services which make chargebacks difficult or impossible.
3. Ending Soon items have been added back to the homepage and increased to show the 100 domains ending soonest. This will hopefully allow everyone's domain at least 1-2 hours of homepage exposure time. This can be further increased to 200+ in the future if necessary as BQB grows.
4. I just want to thank everyone for their support. It's greatly appreciated and your support + suggestions really are helping shape BQB!
On a different note, I'm running a special promotion at present which I'm sure many of you will find interesting
Anyone with a verified BQB account has been given a permanently free store on BQB -- my way of saying thanks for helping keep BQB safe.
If you haven't verified yet, verification is simple:
1. Send me a pm if you have 30+ TR @100% positive. Your account is automatically marked "verified" under these circumstances. I've tried to mark as many accounts meeting this description "verified" as I could, but please make sure I haven't missed yours (especially if your BQB username differs from your Namepros username).
2. If not meeting the above description, send $5 by Verified Paypal or Verified Moneybookers to reece(at)bqb.com , along with an email from the exact email the money is indicated to have come from indicating that you have done so ( important: do not forget to send the email -- it is meant to confirm you are the rightful owner associated with that paypal/moneybookers account). Please mention both your Namepros and BQB usernames in the email. Free verification is being offered exclusively to Namepros members, so I need this information to make sure your refund gets processed. Your money will be refunded within 2-3 days once your account has been confirmed verified.
... and with that, I've just listed a N5.com for a no reserve $0.99 start! I know I'm not as smart as Schwartz, who I think said he's never lost money on a domain, but I know you list at your own risk. And doing so in a brand new auction outlet is not for the feint of heart... I've sold and lost on domains, but it does force you to learn fast... Go BQB!
