BQB is designed to be a safe place for domainers to buy and sell domains. If you're going to receive negative feedback and be okay with that, you deserve the ban. Sorry, but that's the way it is. That's why Reece is approving and monitoring each member individually... To avoid all "negative stuff".
As for the price... If you had a price in mind, you should've set a starting bid at $400 or set a reserve price.
Think so? I've never had a problematic sale before in my LIFE, would you sell a name wich is worth $500ish for just 1/5th of it and throw away 400 bucks, just because of some beta auction site tryout?
If I sell domains on normal places like here or sedo, I ALWAYS sell them, even sometimes with a small loss. BQB is a BETA site, which lacks the normal amount of potential buyers you see here, let alone sedo.
Whats all the bullsh** about 'safe enviroment', like I'm not safe?
I gave a 100% instant refund, even offered some extra money to make up for the time lost. Scammers should be banned!
If what you did is allowed then the site will be cluttered with millions of overpriced domains just sitting there with fake starting bids and it will be as dead as zuho.com is. No one agrees with you, you\re just making yourself look worse, you should stop now.
I agree with you on some of your points, i also made a loss. Sure it was minimal but i sold a domain on BQB and got 1/5th of offers I'd had, but i still sold it.
I think with listing on BQB right now you are risking it and if it does sell low, you'll have to bite your tongue and take it :3
It is foolish not to set a reasonably high reserve. Besides, you could be banned from Sedo for doing just the same thing. Maybe it's not too late to set things right... act now.
thing is - I'm not sure if I'd use BQB ever again, as the interest in domains is very low.
All sales I've made there are with losses, I don't think I'd list any more names there.
As a member with over 100 feedback at BQB I am very happy Reece has taken these actions. I have made quite a few sales that have been under what I paid for the domains. Was I happy about this? Not particularly. Although I realise it is better for the site in the long term. These domains selling for bargain prices will in turn promote the site and attract more members seeking to get some bargains of their own. I am quite happy to start some domains at $1 with no reserve and let them go cheap because I see the tremendous amount of work Reece has put into this great project and wish to do all I can to help him make it a success.
However there are also names which I need to get a certain price for. That is why there is a "reserve" feature. If you didn't realise the reserve could be used then you would have just started it at the price you needed. To have a domain sell (whether it's under price or not) and then not follow through with the sale just because you decide against it shows extremely bad business practices IMO. How would you like to have sold the domain for $1,000 and then the buyer decide that they don't want it now because they think the overbidded on it and paid too much in the end? Or how would you like to be the buyer and bid on something, think you got a bargain only to have the seller turn around and cancel the deal? I would much rather swallow losing a few hundred dollars than risk my reputation.
Whether the act was done on BQB, Sedo, NP or any other sales venue does not matter at all. As far as I know BQB is no longer in BETA as such but gone live. Even if it is still in BETA what does this matter? You have agreed to sell a name there knowing that it is in BETA with a limited amount of members. You should therefore take the appropriate steps (reserve, starting price, promotion, etc) to ensure the domain does not sell under what you need. The reason there are a limited amount of members at BQB is to sift out the trustworthy members from the rest. I would much rather have a site with a small amount of members but knowing that the deals I make will be honoured and paid quickly then have a site with a bunch of cowboys who I cannot trust.
ToiletMonster - I have dealt with you in the past here on NP and have had a positive experience. You were a great buyer and I recommend you. However what you have done at BQB is simply wrong and unethical IMO. I recommend you acknowledge this and apologise to all involved for your sake.
Sorry for the long rant but I feel pretty strongly about this
