Where's the best place to put google adsense in articles (a strictly article website)?

I have an old wordpress article site with google adsense integrated on the right site on the page, but it doesn't receive many clicks.

The best place would probably be in the article's content, whether that be at the top of article or in a middle of it. See suggestions from Google here:

Thanks for the tip and link I tried to put it in the middle of the article, but it looked so "unnatural" and cut off the article.
I'll take a look at Google's suggestions.

Google advice is great
Another a thumb rule is to put the AdSense ads above the fold so your visitors will not have to scroll down to it.
