The only problem with that is we would either need to have it in a stickied thread which would get huge and difficult to go through, or it would clutter the section that is supposed to be for domains that have already gone to auction. I really think this needs a whole section, maybe creating a subforum like the external auctions, or maybe creating a forum in the Special category. Just my opinion.

That was my exact thinking. You could start your name at a higher thread and if it doesn't get pushed, move it to the lower thread. Also, when markets catch on fire for a particular niche, you could just as easily move it up into a higher price range.
I saw Reece's thread in the short domain section and think it is a great idea. As long as the initial bids are sincere and honored, I don't understand the problem. It seems like a good deal all around, from the seller (who wants a minimum bid to start an auction), to the bidder (who wants the chance to get a great domain for $60) and Sedo (who gets more auction inventory and still gets their commission).
Personally I think there are more than enough cheapy names on Sedo auctions.
If you really think your names can be sold at auction at $60+ then just put them on the auction threads here or on other forums with a $60 (Whatever) min bid/reserve met.
Leave the online brokerage house auctions for more quality names then in time it may encourage more end users to start looking instead of having to sift through the mire.
If you get offers use your negotiatng skills to try to up the price before sending to auction.
You only have to look at what has been happening with the recent roadshow auctions, far too many overpriced names and bucketloads of garbage- the results speak for themselves. JMO

I beg to differ.
Sift through the mire???
Why do you think we as a collective society will cheapen the lists of Sedo?
There are alot of members here, with some quality names!
If anything, you should see it, as an enhancement to some of the crap that we have all seen there.
I have several $2000+ LLLL.coms that can't get bids on Sedo... I'm sure most people on Sedo are well aware they won't get a CVCV for $60, so they don't even bother making the offer. There's quite a few CVCVs on Sedo which have zero offers on them... Surely these are worthy of at least $60 bids?
What if the seller just wanted the domain to be sent to auction. What if the seller was inspired by a few extraordinary CVCV sales like YUSU @ $3225? Perhaps they'd be willing to chance it on a $60 bid for that shot at greatness... We'll never know as is. I'm not going to waste my time placing $60 offers on people's CVCVs at Sedo. If however someone wants to guarantee me they'll send that CVCV to Sedo @ no reserve if I give them that $60 start... Who could honestly refuse such a proposal?
It's not necessarily junk -- it's just people who want auctions now. We just don't want to wait 6 months until someone places an offer on that CVCV.
Consider someone who's short on cash... You know pretty much any CVCV except the most monstrous attrocities will hit $1000+ at Sedo, so isn't sending a CVCV in example to auction at no reserve a good idea if you're short on cash needed to make a killer deal?
I offloaded one of my LLL.coms cheap recently for just that reason -- I reasoned that the domain I now have in escrow is going to make me a larger profit than what I lost out on by selling my LLL.com cheap. I know I'm not the only person this has ever happened to...
There's plenty of legitimate reasons for wanting a Sedo auction, as illustrated above, as illustrated by other members in this thread previously, and as illustrated by how many members are in support of this idea.
You are entitled to your opinion I am entitled to mine and my mind is extermely open and flexible, also I am satisfied with the example I set and I try to avoid name calling ,tends to bring down the tone don't you think

Did I mistake that comment?
Wot was that serious?
I pm-ed you, and no response???
I looked at your profile, to try to see what country you are from,
and it says Golden triangle.
I dont know where that is.
Maybe that was an actual nice comment and I mis-interpreted it?
If so, I apologize, immensely!
If not then my comment still stands.
We, over here in the U.S. would only say something like that, sarcastically.
So, If you could clear that up, I might just owe you an apology!
For several weeks now, I've been wishing/hoping/dreaming for something like this.
Reece, you are... well brilliant. And Red Rock, you ROCK! (A little over exuberant at times, but true passion for an ideal to benefit the entire domain community will do that.) Don't let it die.
I now have hope that the constant nagging question will someday stop running through my head - How will I ever get noticed at Sedo?
