viral means "like a virus."

so viral traffic is simply traffic that just spreads (by word of mouth) quickly and to many many people.

Its like viral marketing, Viral marketing is somehow called "word of mouth marketing" is any marketing technique that induces Web sites or users to pass on a marketing message to other sites or users.

An effective viral marketing strategy:
1. Gives away products or services
2. Provides for effortless transfer to others
3. Scales easily from small to very large
4. Exploits common motivations and behaviors
5. Utilizes existing communication networks
6. Takes advantage of others' resources

you also get your traffic if you promote it on traffic exchangers from where these sites get their traffic btw if you don't promote the referral link given to you, then you don't get traffic too.

viral is great, but it's hard to make it like that....if you could do like a very good tool and give it for free for a link-back...that would be viral
