ok i have another comment......or a question actually.....
why did u put a big heart next to the name.....just a question......my eyes are drawn to it....does it have something to do with with their culture or their struggle?
One suggestion would be to rearrange the blocks depending on what user reads on your site. If more users are interested in travel and culture, then it will be better to move the culture and weather blocks to the top and move the politics and economy blocks to bottom. This way user can get what they want without scrolling down.
Also try to change the advt position for more clicks. You might have to do a trial and error to find the best place.
At first sight very clean and well structured site.
What you need:
1. Put a privacy policy. Even if it is a standard one, Google will love it more, and anyway it is against Adsense TOS to not have one.
2. Ad placement is very bad. Not that it bothers users like me, I think the CTR is quite low too (the ones in the header, the rest are ok).
3. The about page. A typical internet user would want to find something else than the CIA World Factbook page, in the same format with the same map. It is a very well known format, and I, as a user would love to find something different on a site that through its domain name has such authority.
4. Under Weather get a feed, something that will show the current weather. Again, as an internet user who would like to visit Sierra Leone (hey, I might want), I would love to see the current weather not the general one (though it is good to have that info).
Overall, one more thing: When I enter the homepage, it looks like a news page. But entering its content it looks more like an information site / travel guide. I know it is unfinished, but you should concentrate what do you want to give your users.
Overall one of the cleanest sites I saw lately, with pleasant colors and a nice structure. Congrats on your work.
Looks good, but I'd blend the header ad better ...
Also, you need to add a Privacy Policy - something which Google recently made into a mandatory requirement for Adsense publishers - http://adsense.blogspot.com/2008/02...conditions.html. I think there was a thread on NP a while ago with some resources for automatically generating one.
(Oops - Alex and I posted the same thing at the same time!)
