I can take some form of comfort knowing that you served 10 years in jail. But, Im contacting your local papers to unveil you as the dirty, low life scammer that you truely are. And if the Police want to take it further, so be it. Ill have a word with Jeff to try and see if we can get all those who were scammed to bring charges against you. With your past criminal record, I think the authorities will make the correct decision.

If you are 100% sure and 100% right then stand firm on your ground.
Get a lawyer. In fact any lawyer. He just needs a black coat and a degree. No need for costly ones.
File a case go with lawyer and police to the culprits office and kick the door. Demand your money back.
Rest the police can do. If the culprit wants to stretch the matter longer then get another 3 lawyers. Yes this time get some good ones.
Be prepared for any consequences and put aside a nice budget for this new law project But teach them a lesson.
Don't know how it works in US though. But I had been through this long time ago.
I worked my a$$ off for a client and he didn't paid me. After calling him many times he did paid me and paid me just $25 dollars less. I spent a lot of money on travels and went there in his city which was 1500 Kms away and as soon as I met him he transferred that remaining $25 USD in my account. It was not about $25 USD but it was about my $25 USD.
When scammers are caught they tend to be aggressive and try to soften you up. I am not telling to take laws in your hands but then don't let it go. Don't soften up and think with a cool mind. Just keep hitting the nail till its home. Take help of the law officers. They are right there for us. If you don't take action they can't know that this things are happening. A dedicated effort will surely teach them a lesson.

Mike got me banned from Digital Point and I had over $40,000 worth of business there. Mostly from PMs, but my iTrader was growing. This sucks.
btw, no good suing him. He rents a single wide trailer in Kiln, ms. He pay employees out of his paypal, if he pays them, and he spends deposits as soon as he gets them. He does not know how to save or invest.
He does have a lot of stolen technology in his trailer though and a big coin collection. He drives a white kia suv, no not much luck there. though the marijuana in is house might be of interest but I doubt suing him will grant your the mary jane.
If you sue him, get my Star Trek collection back for me Cost me $3500 over 7 years to accumulate.
A little add-on, his wife is an illegal immigrant and is his step son who runs his new Texas shop. He did 10 years for back fraud, tried that thing they did on OFFICE SPACE... and got caught. Right now he is blackmailing a very old man who is not in the best health, named Jim. Evil man, this Mike.
How do I know? I WAS his best friend and was very close to his family.

Take that fag to court, use the response as evidence, get screen shots as proof that you paid him and make sure you've gotten every conversation, payment, etc with him as that's your best evidence.
Your lucky your in the same country as him as you can contact and find out about him easier than overseas.

Mike was telling the truth when he said that the multiplayer checkers, dominoes and pool are awesome games. They are very slick and work flawlessly.
I should know - I wrote them.
I was contracted by Mike Mann to design and write these three games as part of a four game project called Casino a lo Latino. The fourth game was poker, which was supposedly being developed by someone else. I never heard a word about your project. Seems he was planning on selling the software twice and only paying me once. Except, he never planned to pay me at all.
Two months ago I completed the games. This included the Flash client programs, the backend server scripts to coordinate play and update the bank, and all related database functionality. There was to be a beta demo for Casino and I was to be paid half of my total fee. The final half was to be payed when the site was installed live.
Trouble was (so I was told) nobody ever did anything with the poker game and the client refused to pay without seeing it. So I was supposed to design and wriite a no-download multiplayer poker system before I'd get paid a dime. Mike asked what it would take to keep me afloat long enough to do the poker. I told him what I needed to cover my rent and bills and he promised to pay me the next day.
That was two months ago.
I've received a steady stream of lies, broken promises and hard luck stories. But no money. I finally called Mike on this BS. He got very abusive and threatening. He told me he didn't owe me anything. I filed a Rip Off report. He threatened some more. Claimed he called the FBI on me (at 3am) for tampering with his server. See me shake in my shoes.
Anyway Kev, the multiplayer checkers, dominoes and pool games DO exist, and they are killer. If you are still interested in them, talk to me.
*I* worked on this project a lot of long man-hours. Every piece of that system which works does so because I made it work. I was the only developer on this project and I was not paid one cent for it. Any money that was paid to Mike for this project stayed in his pocket until he pissed it away.This was not just a scam, it was a double scam.
I totally agree. I can't speak for Kevin, but if he's willing that is exactly what we will do.
There are three reasons I posted here:
(1) to try and recover something for my work
(2) to help other scam victims get something for their money
(3) to help prevent others from getting scammed by Mike
Right now the ball is in Kevin's court. I expect he will have something to say about all this whenever he logs in here.
Never ever pay any money upfront. If they are a good solid company, the will do the work on a development server and have you sign an agreement. Secondly, use escrow.com to pay the money. Paying a few bucks for the escrow.com service saves you actions like the one you have gone through.

PatrickH, "Casino a lo Latino"? I remember that one, I had my ex-wife design the logo and then I adapted it to your liking. At least Mike said you liked it. She only got 1/5th the pay she was promised from him.
Btw, Mike has not been anywhere online for about 3 weeks. I think that either the law got him, he is running again, or his ass is dead.
Regarding the FBI, I already did, I called Homeland Security too since his wife/secretary is illegal.
