Well Now I see you edited Freedom and I thank you for the kind words, you need to understand when other mods come in they are busy I sometime do not get told what they do and when they do it it is frustrating but I do look into it for people here like the TV researcher thread.
What I AM saying however is that if you read my other posts in here.....I think everyone is getting very uptight around here lately and should do something similar to what I did. I stopped being here every day. I got back to what I love doing, working with people on projects I want to work on and stop taking .tv as so serious that I dared not speak ill of it.
Quinn didn't stop posting here because someone said her head looked nice bobbing up and down. (It might, I didn't watch the video myself)
Demand bowed out of here because the heat was on for them to perform. They, and people like Quinn, were figuring out that they could never really meet the demands of "domainers" so they quick asking what we thought of it.
As I said previously, while I both hate and respect their actions, I think they have done what is right for their business. Namely slowly distancing themselves from .tv.
Do I think microguys comments were unprofessional? Yep, sure do.
Do I think they were misplaced in this thread? Nope, sure don't.
Why? Because right now this particular forum is SO uptight about everything that the ONLY thing that will start to loosen people up is time off. So if comments like those drive people away for a bit, I applaud it. I took a bit of time off from here and it has made me realize what I said above. This is NOT life and death, and this forum is not a business that we are employees of. It is a forum.
Forums have good and bad sides. They always will.
Is Quinn hot? Don't know, haven't seen her myself.
/\---------------------that was my way of breaking the ice a bit.
I just can't see why we HAVE to be the 10 rules of business etiquette around here. We don't get paid, we don't get stock options, we don't get health benefits. We get insight. People need to hear different opinions, or we may as well just give up on this.
Take 3 days off with no Namepros, and preferably no domainer contact. It really does good things for ones outlook.
A some of conflict/hostility comes from misinterpretation and people seem just a little bit more "edgy" than usual. Just my opinion/observation.
"Must be something in the water, that's why I drink Fiji Water."™
Now if I could only get endorsed/sponsored for saying that
As an extension, .tv is going nowhere but up. Just sold paramedic.tv for a little under $2K. Get offers just about everyday on .tv names which is cool. Also got some really cool co-development interest in some of my premium .tv. If it works out, I think it will be a huge for large category generic .tv portfolio owners who are tired of the PPC thing and not really developers themselves. Stay tuned!
Peace y'all & a shout out to Ray for having to deal with all that he does.
And no that's not the door Equity, that's your response that stings. If I say something out of place I usually retract, erase or apologize. Not on this occasion, however. You may have to defend the "gods", I do not, but yes, reasons should be given in a professional forum or business. Even our politicians aren't THAT busy, for bulldog's sake.
Equity, I did not mean to provoke any hostility. If that happened, it was unintended. For THAT I apologize, not my opposition to a theocratic-style hierarchy where some are more important than others(Animal Farm?) . Smash has a business plan we need to emulate but are too busy with these frustration-mongering threads. So I will do not only you but myself a favor and hope that will turn a tide. I will ignore these threads that encourage distraction and concentrate on marketing, selling or developing only.
Where is Smash when we need her?
BTW Equity, because I didn't reply with a note of appreciation did not mean I didn't appreciate your answer. I do, and as belated as it may be, I thank you for your quick and timely response, as I know you have done for all here on this forum.
But even if I no longer criticize the judgements of those who make the rules but have no time nor obligation to explain their rationale of them to us, I will always go by an American principle of "If I can not, why not", otherwise it's... oh, never mind.
Thanks for you forbearence in this and have a great day, EQ.
As f'd up this thread has been, I think it has been good and productive.

My friends are always like its water it all tastes the same, but I can taste a difference, its the same with ICED TEA I try every kind and critique and friends are like DUDE ITS ICED TEA ? I am like no Arizona Green Tea I love, their regular tea they overload with sugar imo tastes terrible. Good thing I own tea.tv.
Bulldog I agree with your last two posts and have said the same thing for a long time about its only domains, its why at Holiday I always post get out of here. Especially if they are not supporting you and your family, they have some importance but not Top priority in the grand scheme of life at least IMO
It was never directed at you because of all people(not making points, just an observation) you have the wackiest ship afloat on the forums and do a great job of keeping it above water. Seriously. I am promising myself to focus on what? MARKETING, SELLING, DEVELOPMENT. Should we all do that watch this thing take off. Signing off on this thread and looking for $$$, good night one and all!!!
Freedom you will see I posted another post after I read your Edit.
I do not need to stick up for the Gods, I have the utmost respect for RJ and outside of Mark and Cyberian I do not know any of the other staff. If they are wrong I will be the first to blast them.
Freedom if you ask me I will always tell you why, I created this section, when other mods come in they might move something and on to something else. That is all I am saying is that when you first posted I thought you were implying I did not explain. You edited and I thanked you. Have a good one and sorry for the miscommunication.
1) DM is not going to go nuts promoting the extension nor are domaineers their number #1 priority. How many times do we have to go over this?!
Approximate quote from R.R. "We did not spend any marketing advertising Myspace - it happened because its time was right. .tv is definitely going to happen, I couldn't possibly spend enough money to make the farmer in Iowa know about tomorrow, but on the other hand, I couldn't stop if from happening if I tried"
For better or worse, that is what he believes. One could argue either way, but it is at least a plausible point of view that online driven businesses don't grow by advertising but by virality and functionality.
Similarly, I have yet to see a registry succeed in pushing end user usage of an TLD which is the only thing that will drive value. (I believe .mobi is in a domaineer bubble, though that remains to be seen, I could be wrong)
2) The TLD is getting more valuable over time. There is no doubt about that. But it will take time, more time than most people expect, and as Brian pointed out, it will always be a more narrow TLD than .com
3) Your destiny is in your own hands. Complaining about DM is not going to buy you 1 cent of revenue or an additional domain sales.
Now let's get back to work and see if we can go 1 week without some form of hurt feelings.
Do I get commission for starting this thread??? Cause I gota feeling that alot of dirty laundry is finally getting cleaned or at least blowing strongly in the wind!!
PI.TV sold for over $2750 tonite, I have landed a big sponsor for Care.TV, sold Cambridge.TV this week too, and sold my first .mobi today for $200 and may have an offer coming in on a TV.COM too before the weeek is out.
Microguy is a cheeeky monkey, Bulldog is a breath of fresh aitruntil he gives you a lick, Eq still manages to walk the line of sanity.......
Bottom line if we NEEDED a company to push the extension I would be nervous. .TV has already taken off, every developed .TV is looking better and better, one day soon Snoop will stand up and announce to all of us that he has just won the contract away from DM to market .TV. And then we should all start to panic......
Until that day arrives though, .TV seems to promoting itself just fine...........how? because of all the stubborn boneheaded domainers and new to development developers such as ourselvesmake us a group to be reckoned with
The moral of this thread is regardless of your feelings about Demand Media, regardless of how you feel about any other domain guru who has criticized .tv, your success in .tv will be dependent on your ability to make things happen, not on events you cant control. EQ has said this right from the beginning and I think people who want to be successful need to understand this.

Antonis good post the funny thing is I think we posted this 18 months ago, that we are not their concern (VERISIGN at the time) and they should not be who we are looking to.
This post just proves how a lot of NP members feel about DemandMedia. Some of us get more "emotional" about it, but that's ok. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.
What I don't like is that RR really pitched a hard sell that the company was going to work on promoting the extension to make .tv a top tld, and they have not done so publicly in the 8-10 month time period.
Regardless, even though I think it is more important for people to worry about there own business, I do not think this is right to give the appearance of blowing off .tv, as very little has been done.
Perhaps there is more going on behind the scenes and if so, we shall just wait.
But I don't like how such strong comments were made and here we are less than a month out and no anniversary party or any push of any kind planned.

James it is going to take more than your big mouth to earn a commission check from me. lol
But seriously, this has been a very productive thread and I think it is helpful.

i dont know if this is gonna make any sense but, the parents will understand...
this is exactly like when my daughter is at her gymnastics competitions- you prep for it for months, and everyone is pumped, positive, going strong- and close with their team mates.
then you get to the competition, and stuff happens. they may not even be losing, but someone slips, or someone falls- and things are very very tense. kids start snapping at each other, parents become undone- people are sayng things they wouldnt have normally said.
as i watch this stuff happen, this is what i am seeing. 6 months ago, no one cared about a joke. i like to joke around in here- its a community, not wall street. but, when people are tense and frustrated, that is what is talking- you can always tell. the team is the same, its the circumstances.
you are all some of the most awesome people i have ever "met". in fact it often frustrates my husband, because i will repeat or share something i read here, maybe it was something funny bulldog said- and he will say: you know someone names bulldog??????? silly rabbit :-)
everyone has a right to feeling frustrated, especially with demand media. as well, i am frustrated with sedo, taxes, the stomach bug that has my 4 year old throwing up all night tonight, my backordered furniture order, and a million other things-
the question is- there is a fly in the soup. a splinter in the thumb. a noise in the engine. can it be fixed, if so how, and if not, what is plan B?

Ooooodles of Videocentric Names for Sale HERE
Look some of this stuff is not new, we have spoken about premiums and how screwed up they were and that Verisign did not care. It was emphasized to people THEY DO NOT CARE WHAT DOMAINERS THINK ON .TV. Yet debates of the same thing went on and on. But now there is fresh voice, a new flower growing in the garden and his name is Richard. He has done some good, he has done some over promising, he has raised millions of $ in VC that thought Richard was going public last year so they the VC's would have an exit strategy. The credit and stock markets threw a wrench into that plan no IPO.
Now what is Plan B ? It starts with IMO
Knowing yourself, why do you own .tv domains ?
What is your honest budget ?
What are your real talents ? Design, Development, Sales, Marketing, Writing ?
How long can you wait for a payday ?
Do you have the patience for all of this ?
Hedge your portfolio when and where you can with TV related .com and or your country TLD.
