wildcard dns cpanel addon Anyone know if it's possible ( for a hosting company ) to configure wildcard dns for cpanel addon domains? |
I think that if they get paid for that they will do even impossible things |
the answer is yes they can. if you slowly and carefully talk the support person through it :yell: |
Is their support friendly and polite? |
yes, they were polite, willing to help, and very quick to respond. if a little unsure of what to do. |
Yes, it is possible to set wild card DNS for Addon domains. But they will have to do it manually from the shell. |
And do not forget explain the reason you need to do. Sometimeas unusual requests without any reason embarass web hosting stuff. |
Yes - it is perfectly possible. They need to use the "Edit DNS Zone" option of WHM and create a new A record for "*" (wildcard to match all subdomains) and your IP address. You'll need a unique IP address for it to work, since otherwise apache will not recognise your wildcard subdomains. |
