Anyone know if it's possible ( for a hosting company ) to configure wildcard dns for cpanel addon domains?

I think that if they get paid for that they will do even impossible things

the answer is yes they can. if you slowly and carefully talk the support person through it :yell:

Is their support friendly and polite?

yes, they were polite, willing to help, and very quick to respond. if a little unsure of what to do.

Yes, it is possible to set wild card DNS for Addon domains. But they will have to do it manually from the shell.

And do not forget explain the reason you need to do. Sometimeas unusual requests without any reason embarass web hosting stuff.

Yes - it is perfectly possible. They need to use the "Edit DNS Zone" option of WHM and create a new A record for "*" (wildcard to match all subdomains) and your IP address. You'll need a unique IP address for it to work, since otherwise apache will not recognise your wildcard subdomains.
