Which Payment Processor do you use?

Hi, I'd like to accept credit cards online. Which payment processor do you use and would you recommend them? Thank you.

Some of the most important factors when choosing a payment processor include your business location (i.e. are you based in the USA, India, China etc.) as this could affect the choice of your payment processor as well as fees and volume; some processors will charge the same amount for each transaction and some will give you a discount based on the volume of your sales.

Some of the most popular are:

http://www.paypal.com
http://www.moneybookers.com
http://checkout.google.com
http://www.worldpay.com
http://www.2checkout.com

There are also some local processors which deal with clients from specific areas, like NoChex in the UK for example.

Reality suggests that the best options are either PayPal, Moneybookers or Google Checkout.

Thanks for the info. I've read lots of bad reviews about Google Checkout. I'm wondering if GC is all that bad. It has the lowest fee though and I'm tempted to use them.

we're in the UK and protx have been very good for us the past couple of years.

stay away from:

securetrading.com
worldpay.com
netbanx.com
commidea.com

RJ uses Google Checkout for NamePros transactions and he's a big fan of it. ;)

I have used 2checkout.com in the past and was pretty happy with them. Google checkout is also good.

phpsugar 03-10-2008 02:11 PM

2checkout is good but i gave up on them.

All i can truly recommend is Paypal.

Since i've been using paypal as a payment method on my site the sales increased with 35%.

You will have the occasional fraudulent orders but it really depends on what you're selling.

Hope this helps ;)

Read somewhere that the FBI raided e-gold's office and indicted the owner. Is it still safe to accept e-gold?

bbalegere 03-18-2008 11:58 PM

Moneybookers and paypal.

Is this for real? And after all that mumbo jumbo about it being the only real 'backed' investment...

mainstream 03-19-2008 02:44 PM

paypal has upped thier support - fee is still too high, but universal acceptance is what makes it my choice

I used Authorize.net and PayJunction.com at work and am pleased with both.

Dreads 03-20-2008 07:00 PM

Google Checkout
And
Paypal

Those are the only 2 i would use

bbalegere 03-20-2008 11:05 PM

The problem with paypal is that if a large amount of money is transferred then it will be detected as suspicious.

D'Godown 03-21-2008 01:18 AM

paypal and 2co are the best i have experienced.

N-grace 03-21-2008 08:06 AM

Paypal all the way..For me it has worked everytime. Moneybookers is another good option..but I don't use them very often.

I use NOCHEX (www.nochex.com). I have opted for their Merchant product, as it offers low transaction fees, no requirement to have a Merchant Number issued. The only gripe I have is transactions over £1,000 are not permitted, but that isn't a big deal as I have very few transactions over that amount, of which I usually split up into smaller payments to let it pass through anyway. I'd definitely recommend Nochex.

dailyearner 03-29-2008 08:02 PM

i like pp very much

frestea 04-23-2008 03:20 AM

where do you live? you can use paypal or 2co

Political Monster 04-25-2008 02:38 PM

Paypal, although they refund customers way too quickly, and practically ignore the providers sometimes :(
