Do you think Google's changing the way it does things?

Here is a questin for all ...

you all know I am only sort of an SEO person. I don't quite get all the algorhythm stuff, but for the most part have been able to get the pages I wanted ranked well, ranked well. Lately it's just seemed harder and harder to move up. I move up for a few days and think I'm getting some where and then I am right back down. Now, what I have noticed is a lot of our stuff that I worked on a long time ago seems to have budged more recently. So that leads me to ask, is google weighing in age of incoming links more now than they used to? It may just be that I am going after more competitive terms, but I don't know. Everything seems harder to get to budge lately.

the up and down could be because google changes its algorithm quite often. and seo is getting harder and harder since more and more people are getting it done to their site(s).

whether google is weight in age of incoming links more is something google would know and try to keep secret, but afaik i don't think so. i've even heard somewhere that completely new links get weighted more than older low reputation links.

and once again, this has nothing to do with adsense and belongs in: http://www.namepros.com/search-engines/

I have been playing around with a few domains to see where they rank in google... at first it was position three... then it dropped a few days latter to page 30 and it went back and forth for a little while now it is stuck at position 6 they do play around a lot to make people pay for their services
