I have a number of .com.au sites and and .com sites.
I currently use a USA host for my .com.au sites and .com sites
I was told that if I have a .COM site which is trying to attract an Australian audience I really should be hosting it with a Australian based host so the search engines can see that im trying to attract an audience here. WOuld this be the case or is it a MYTH?
I don't know about how search engines will interpret this.
But your Australian users will probably notice a speed difference if you hosted in AUS. Only negative to this is that it is expensive, bandwidth there is pricey.
Yeh I know its pricey here, hence the reason I like the US hosting....
Just a question... though about the hosting...heres the deal right.
1500 GB of Storage
15000 GB of Transfer
FREE Domain & Setup
Host Unlimited Domains
Choice of Site Builders
Choice of Shopping Carts
$80 Google/Yahoo Credit
Free RatePoint Subscription
Im not totally up to speed with this but does the 'Host Unlimited Domains' mean i can host lets say 4 websites each with different domain name???

If you are doing SEO
#1 - do not worry about web hosting location. Worry about web hosting uptime
#2 - web hosting location influence on page loading time for your customers

hey joe (or anyone else knowledgable too),
when you say "parked", do you get a better deal when you park a site on your own hosting, like that? is it a better return than, say namedrive, sedo (insert whatever parking company you like here)... even parked.com?
and are hosting companies set up on domain deals - ie. no content required for google ads etc?
I think they won't install software you have mentored. Anyway you can ask it as pre-sales question. I think that location for the SEO is nothing. As far as I know uptime is much more important thing. In this case I would recommend you have a look at web hosting companies offering good uptime. I can recommend you Westhost.com, Hqhost.net or NeoWebspace.com.
I believe in your region some decent providers can be found. But I think that anyway location is not an option for SEO. At least for google which has DC around the world.
