I use it but as it is almost instantly indexed. I am not sure what is helping it and what isn't.

Yes it helps alot! I have had about 45% of my visitors from there, and quite a few subscribed to my feed (but not through feed burner for some strange reason).

My personal blog takes about 15-20 minutes to be indexed on Google.

The fastest is 1 day but I didn't actually check within one hour of posting my blog so it may be a few hours. Anyways, wordpress blogs get indexed pretty quickly.

you can speed up your indexing by getting more new links to your blog - especially from sites that get visited often by crawlers. if you're using a cms for your blog, there should be an option (or at least a plugin) somewhere for pinging.

If you create a new blog, you submit it to social bookmarking sites without "nofollow". Your blog will be indexed within 48 hours. This way is fast.

google will follow through and crawl your site even if the external link is nofollowed.
