I had two people this week already send me emails for HDE.com, which is why i thought i should have a look around and see "whats happening" with the trend/ ATM.
I haven't really noticed that premium letter LLL.coms are affected though. They usually sell for $12k+, which is the average price level the last couple of years.

Autism
I just get the feeling that momentum is shifting from the buyers to the sellers.

And no sooner do i say that i see SEX.com is going up for auction, now THAT will be interesting and a true test for the premium end, as all eyes will be on this sale.

The Sex.com auction is all about time and place imho. This time it can sell for $1 million, next time it can sell for $10 million.

But yeah, it will definitely be an interesting auction to watch.

I'm leaning towards the latter, as mentioned above.

ADDIT, i just looked in the high priced domains and i don't even see one (seriously anyway) for sale, i cant remember ever seeing that before.

OK, i tell a lie i see two, though one appears to be a circus, on again off again sale/s, the other is too expensive.
KXX.COM will not be sold for less than $5K for sure

some start buyer will get a deal on Sex.com is the name will be offered with low reserve, definitely good timing to buy it in my opinion.

I dont think 3letter .coms will ever fall below $3,500 again. Bold statement but there are compelling reasons.
1. I estimate that of the 17,000 possibles about 5,000 are undeveloped and in hands of those given a price between $3,500 - $50,000 will sell. You have to accept that those that are developed are brands and have more intrinsic value AND there are known domainers who are heavily funded that say they will never sell one of their LLL.com.
2. This leaves 5,000 possibles max and I estimate of these 5,000 are held by about 700 individuals. That is a hell of a strangle hold on supply. So it is all well and good some getting excited when they see a low priced domain sold but you have got to find another one in these 700 that will sell for less than $3,500.
3.Unlike 4L.com those in the 3L.com sector have much higher net wealth and dont need to make distressed sales.
4.The downturn over the last 18 months has weeded out those that are shaky with holding LLL.coms and the quick flippers etc., leaving a much firmer base of owners going forward.
5. Coupled with the fact that LLL.coms often produce revenue as parked domains. I have 4 that produce over $3,000 dollars per annum each LQK EIA PLN and MVR. And all produce some notable revenue and I have some of the worst combos that you can think of.
And then you have all the much repeated benefits of short domains, as we move into the mobile age.
5,000 available and a high demand from endusers - just take a look at all those successful companies that use LLL.coms and so many were some of the very first ever domains to be hand reged.
They are a strong hold in my book.

That's amazing. I wonder if these domains are just parked with Google? Or something more targetted. If people can get this kind of income from parking, it makes domains much more valuable, for sure.

Bad venue for such names IMO, altho they have low fees compared to other places.

True. I've never bought or sold a single domain on e-bay. I never check e-bay for domains either. Maybe I should.

I am guessing that this domain didn't go for much do to the possibility of trademark problems:

cif has tens of uses, including main one - "non-trademarkable" "cost, insurance, freight", an incoterm.

There is no way it can have any trademark issue.
