A realy nice offer from RegisterFly.com and they handle transfers very fast.

Depending on how cooperative the other registrar is. GoDaddy really put me, (and R-Fly), through some hoops a month ago, by giving me a bunch of AUTH codes that didn't work. Out of approx 100 transfers- 80 requiring AUTH codes, 7 transfers made it through- the rest got placed in limbo somewhere-
just long enough to hit expiration dates on about 20 of them, which forced me to renew @ GoDaddy or lose the names.
:td:
PS It took me awhile to figure out who the culprit was. TX for sharing- I have some names I will transfer over to R-Fly today, :tu:

registerfly watch out!!!

about half the domains I transfer to registerfly end up with the wrong whois info on them. I do hundereds of transfers a year for clients at all the major registrars and reg-fly is the ONLY one who does this. They always have a different excuse and they are usually in denial and rude. 5.50 is a low price so transfer if you must but be ready to have your domain name switched on the whois info to somebody in Peru and better track all domains and get them chagned back quick.

TX for advice, Wendy. i actually held off and am transferring over to a registrar that I have a reseller acct w/ at only a little above this special offer. RFly still hasn't released $500+ in funds that were errantly placed in my account due to a snafu that double entered a deposit that was made 2 mos ago, and I have found them uncommunicative and uncooperative in aiding me. I'll lose the $100 or so that i could save in the short term before bringing business to a company that is not treating me so well. :p

registerfly nightmares

I am in charge of registering domains for hundreds of clients. I just do as they request and transfer where they want. Whenever Registerfly has a big special I get requests from many to transfer there. Almost every time there are HUGE errors in the whois after the domains arrive at register-fly. I have spoken with register-fly on the phone, I have emailed them, I have talked to them in their live chat and I have opened several trouble tickets. I finally spoke on the phone at great length with a manager who asked me to make screen captures of the process the next time I transferred so I spent hours doing so.
1. I copied all the whois info.
2. I transferred names.
3. I checked info once they got to r-fly and much of the whois had changed.
There was no consistency as to what had changed. Some domains were completely in other peoples names. some had not changed. Some had just the admin or tech changed. I contacted the manager with my findings thinking AHA! but COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME! He told me they only use what they are send and I or the previous registrar must of eroded in the process.
Once I transferred some names from ENOM to them and the same thing happened and when I reported it I got a HUGELY sarcastic email saying "first of all we are an ENOM reseller so ....... it's impossible ..... blah blah.
Sorry to carry on so but I am doing as my clients ask and if they want to transfer to r-fly I do so. I tell them I am not responsible for errors etc but they make their requests so I accommodate.
It was kind of interesting that the first time this happened over a year ago, I got an email from a lady in Peru. She said I noticed you registered your domain name in my name and she asked me why and what's going on. I have to tell you it was scarey as hell.

It's still 50cts more than my normal price for domains!

The issue is with enom not rfly's system, I have seen similiar issues happen to names I moved over to my own reseller account 8 months ago before I consolidated to rfly because of the pricing.

RegisterFly is..................GREAT!

I have never had a single problem with RegisterFly!
During the last year I have transfered over 200 domains to them and everything has always went well. Transfers from eNom to RegisterFly are extreamly fast, a few have been less than 12hrs!(guess that should be expected) Somtimes GoDaddy has been a bit slow but still OK. I like my eNom reseller account for pricing, but the "free" web services do not meet my needs on some projects. I have found that most problems are from the register loosing the domain and not RegisterFly.

Just because it did not happen to you does not mean it never happens. Some people had Edsels and Ford Pintos and never had a problem with them!
There is a glitch in their system and I have seen posts on other forums where people have had more problems than I have. I guess it is a HUGE waste of my time to try and tell people to check their domains to make sure this did not happen to them also. I pointed out that I made screen captures and proved that it does happen and it is NOT ENOM and it is not MY FAULT and it is NOT the losing registrar's error. There is something wrong at R-Fly and this happens sometimes and I thought others would like to know but it appears that I am wasting my time here about as much as I wasted it trying to talk to r-fly so I won't waste any more of any ones time on the subject. Sorry and excuse me.

WoW!!!

I was in no way trying to discount or down play your expierence. Thus, I did not pull a quote from your post.

My only point was to provide my expierence with RegisterFly. In fact, my expierence has taught me that "most" transfer errors or problems are the fault of the user(ME) and not the registrar.

;)

Question about transferring domains. I have one domain that is actively linked to my website. The domain is at Network Solutions. If I ask RegFly to transfer the domain, will that cause any downtime with my website?

Are you using the DNS of Network Solutions?

If not you should have no downtime since they retain all of your prior settings when the name comes over

Thanks, no I am using the DNS at my host, so I guess it should be cool. Although I missed the sale, but got time to perhaps wait until there is another one...

Wendy, i get what you mean cos' I have the same problem too! Same problem with my whois. It is very easy to push domains in registerfly, everything is great...BUT...oh man, the whois is a big headache.

Flora.

Oh Yeah - I will add my 1 cent :)

One name left for me at Registerfly

I have stopped bothering to even look if the whois is correct.

They are nothing but a headache. I do not have the serious time they have already taken to try to fix my whois info.

Anyone want to have my last name with them I will take a loss. $5 will get it (if it can be got)

PM me for details

Edited because the truth causes problems, apparently.

Edited because the truth causes problems, apparently.

Go ahead, buy that $5.50 transfer and lock your self into the abyss that is rf.

But don't say I did not warn you. I tried.
