I like .infos. Esp. generic names.
Since it's a gTLD, it's a fair game when it comes to Google ranking.

That was a very strange article and bit surprising from pingdom.com - lots of very muddled thinking.

.xxx and .web - not even in the root
.museum and .aero - very specialist niche TLDs
and .info the largest new gTLD with over 5,300,000 regs and 1,300,000,000 pages Google think are worth indexing.

Perhaps it was Linkbait?

The most notable comment in that article was "the goal of most sites is to provide information". That is partly why .info is so popular.

Looks like .INFO made the wrong list yesterday: Top 5 TLD Failures
I don't think that the author of that blog post has much of an idea about the use of .info domains and .info websites. It is a poorly argued post that is based on obviously limited personal opinion rather than facts and statistics.

karamay.info just got rejected by sedo's premium auction. LOL. however when I look at the list of names and, more specifically, .info names I see many that i would think are less than premium. Does anybody have any useful information regarding .info names that make sedo's auction? Does sedo look at the fact that karamay is one of the fastest growing cities in china and that it is the center of that countries fossil fuel industry? Am i being another disillusioned newbie? LOL. I would appreciate some guidance so I dont make the same mistake again.

I would guess Sedo look at their target market which I would guess it is predominantly American & Western European. We are always interested in acquiring good .info's but but trying to develop sites around cities in other countries is harder than developing sites in your own country.

The other problem is Karamay isn't well known so most European and American domainer's would find it very hard to resell karamay.info

just regged at GD:

chestfreezers.info - UK exact, 33,000 (which covers chestfreezer.info for sure with 74,000). :) 18,000 for US

electriccookers.info - US 1,600 / UK 40,500 (49,000 for the singular form).

runningmachines.info - US 720 / UK 9,900 (27,000 for singular)

pm if interested in any. :)

.info is popular because it is cheap. The only thing that affilias did right with .info was selling new registrations cheap. If not for that it would be consigned to the dustbin like .biz.

My Aggregator.info closed on Bido with 1 bid @ $28. Bah!

Low regfee is a major selling point of dot info for sure. I have a couple dozen regged in the last 10 months or so. They are tough to sell though for me.

GovernmentJobs dot info sold on Bido today for $479 I believe. That's a pretty damn good ROI even if it was held for a few years.

Still think the extension has a lot of upside.

the price of govermentjobs was indeed a great price. honestly i expected something max in the mid xx range. also considering that names like lawyersjobs.info, nursesjobs.info, etc., sold for just 5$ !! in the past.

i am currently selling a jobs.info lot on ebay with names like tourismjobs, secretarialjobs, etc. and i would be glad to sell the whole lot for mid xx or something lol

however the low regfee of infos at godaddy for instance is great for me as i am also active in the german market and in that market, .infos are almost like .orgs , .eus, etc.
if you look at the .info sales you will see that a significant part of the high priced sales are german names like tagesgeld.info sold for $17000 last month , or SEO.info has been sold to a german company for $22.000 (i don't think that a US company would have paid that much for an .info, even if SEO is an international term)....etc
