Anybody Good With Joomla 1.5?

I am trying to upoad a banner to Joomla 1.5 and i am not having much luck. I go to the media manager upload the banner i want but cannot seem to get it into the banner folder. I have tried a variety of different things but cannot seem to get it to work. Can anyone help me?? I must be missing somthing simlpe. Thanks
