i am trying to understand this tv.com i have a few myself but i dont.
names,towns,citys geos yes others no just about everything is regd but theres no reports of this landrush anywere but on this forum.
yes i have some and getting traffic ...i even get traffic from a tv.biz
Its not a landrush Mike, tv.com been regged for years back into the 90's. So back then there was no .tv available. For those who do not like .tv they going to go with tv.com. Finally got an offer of FCtv.co.uk which I think is a great co.uk with how many teams use FC in their name. I think highly brandable for Football on the Television in the UK, it was a low offer nothing special.
got two offers recently - vetstv and cataloguetv, for VERY low xxxx - turned it down
on a side note, british vetinary association own vets.tv and are not the ones who apprached me for vetstv.com..they dont seem to care who owns the tv.com version....so remember tv.com is not the be all and end all name to own....have both if you can or one out of two if you cant....the only obvious advantage.com has is the cheaper pricing structure and well known extension.
Both these advantages may be undermined in the future if the pricing for.tv comes down and becomes a recognisable extention to the masses.....

i was talking to the boss of a media company who has www.hulltv.co.uk
and www.hullkr.tv he said they do work for hullkr what is a rugby team .
we also have "www.hullfc.tv what have a good site now "
we have two rugby teams in hull
he did seem to know a lot about tv and said if i do change my mind about not selling my name,to get in touch...but i had the feeling he put more value in co.uk and little value in tv.

The name I like for they are available and you can probably make nice $200 to $400 sales on a hand reg. I do not think everyone will pay big $ x,xxx for their name as a novelty name.
But I think if you cannot have your first name.com then firstnametv.com is next best thing. Again IMO
So I think as a nice niche and not to be greedy you can sell a name tv.com for a nice return on investment. But the bigger money is in keywords like sports or music or a geo.
As the owner of over 2000 TV.com's now (I've been busy recently) I can assure you that the majority of interest to buy the names is for geoTV.com, followed by KeywordTV.com, then in a very last place NameTV.com.
It appears the prices are going up substantially even within the domaining community. I recently asked the price of one name from one of our superstars here in this part of namepros and was quoted $750. I decided at the time not to buy - less than five weeks ago.
I now see that same name (a KeywordTV.com) is going for $5,000.
Strange thing is, even with a recession, she will probably get this amount without a problem.
TV + computers + telephones = web 2.0 convergence = TV.com
Add to this a world where money can't hide from failing banks and the need for strong investments and we may have our own 'perfect storm' - only our kind might be a positive perfect storm.
The recession will bring a lot more opportunities - as every recession does. Many reading this thread will not be buying, selling or developing names in 12 months time, because outside factors will force them out of the game. However, in their place we are starting to see people who are looking for that safe haven for their money. These are the people who are starting to up the prices today.
I still think we have another 12 months before the major media companies really start to 'get into' internet TV and whether you own a .tv or a TV.com you should be sitting pretty.
