The official .cc hype thread

I realize .cc has plenty of naysayers, but I happen to be one of its cheerleaders. There are still plenty of great short one-worders out there now, but I think they will be almost completely gone within the next year or so as interest in the .cc TLD increases. I also believe that the buyout of LLL.cc names will occur within the next year and a half or so, which will be good for the .cc market and increase value.

Of course, I could be wrong, but this is the hype thread so I won't go there :)

Go .cc!

mis_chiff 11-27-2007 06:51 PM

First let me say - I am also a fan of .cc :D

With the internet expanding and becoming more
user friendly, more and more AND more people and
businesses are getting involved. In some way shape
or form on the web!
All the top-notch money making .com's are gone,
without a doubt, and I don't know about most people, but
if Wendy.com ever became "available" it would be
way, way out of my price range, BUT I have the .cc
and Damn proud of it!

Back when 2 letter .com's were "free" I was thinking,
why would anyone want one of those, what could you
do with them? What are they called? Domain names! [DUH]
I could be sitting in a house on a hill overlooking a lake,
counting my money - IF I HAD SEEN THE VISION!

What I'm trying to say without babbling anymore is that
if you want an internet presence, you gotta take what you
can get - and with everything selling out - where do you go?
.cc is shorter than most and there are some great ones available!
For now!
I sold a LLL.cc last year for low $xxx
all but 1 of my .coms sold for $xx
So, bottom line is, :imho:
I'm not going to be sitting here next year wishing I had bought
more of LLL.cc or "keywords".cc
I watched the LLL.ca disappear in 2 days! I had over 100 on my
"some day to reg list" there were thousands available, then poof!
All gone!

and all :imho:
:p

vlad74 11-28-2007 04:56 AM

Where is it possible to reg .cc at the lowest fee? GoDaddy charges 18-20 dollars :(

italiandragon 11-28-2007 05:05 AM

I have a great .cc

Commodities.cc

I did not take offer in low - medium $XXX for this one as it was listed at GreatDomains.com for $15,000

I saw some companies in Australia using LLL.cc as their website.

sdsinc 11-28-2007 06:43 AM

Why do you think .cc is going to get any popular ?

TomB 11-28-2007 07:30 AM

I hope you guys are right, and they do take off...I've got a couple two character CCs.

I had a handful of .cc's listed at GreatDomains.com; let all but 1 of them expire :/

I've long been a cheerleader of .cc, but my patience for this extension is wearing thin at this point ;) I still hope, but it has had every opportunity, but Verisign has squandered even the littlest headway.

I have the best .cc ever:

XYZ.cc

Yeah, there's no doubt it's had an unusually slow take-off. Some may blame reg fees, and while they may play a part, I don't think that's the biggest issue. Look at .tv -- its reg fee is higher than .cc's but that hasn't stopped it from becoming one of the most popular popular TLDs. .cc is just one of the extensions that has taken a while to rise in popularity, but I believe its heyday will come sooner than we may expect.

and exponent... that is indeed a nice name you have! (although I would argue that it's second best; abc.cc is the best ;))

This thread has inspired me to carry out a very non-scientific experiment of sorts to see how hypeworthy the .cc market is. I've listed nen.cc on eBay starting at $0.99 with no reserve to see how much I'll get for it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...em=280178716032

Edit: Looks like dud.cc has also been put up for auction. I'm interested to see how this one ends up as well.

Sam 11-28-2007 08:58 PM

No worries about .cc from here. The true premium .cc owners know that within another 1-2 years, the price cant go down.

sdsinc 11-29-2007 08:31 AM

That does not mean they will go up either :]

jg123 11-29-2007 09:15 AM

I just have one left and it has a website on it www.FreeMP3s.cc, I don't see a big future for this tld

Yes, all 1000 possibilities are registered.

xman 11-29-2007 08:41 PM

I lost hope with these extension.

I had some solid keywords with .cc but I let most of them expired.

The only .CC I have left are my collection. 2 chars and the lists below which I may developed some day. Here they are.

0-0.cc
2-2.cc
4-4.cc
5-5.cc
6-6.cc
8-8.cc
9-9.cc

H-H.cc
L-L.cc
M-M.cc
O-O.cc
R-R.cc
X-X.cc
Y-Y.cc
Z-Z.cc

Mike 11-30-2007 01:46 AM

I actually cannot complain:

www.DWI.cc is making some money - needs to be better optimized.
www.z3.cc is getting the most revenue of my .cc - and could potentially benefit from better optimization and
www.6h.cc is just lingering there, i'm not sure what to make out of it.

I've had some laughable offers on z3.cc, nothing even worth considering selling for. The only acceptable offer that i had on it (2k), didn't finalize.

There are too many LLL.cc domains available to register at this time, so only reasonable combinations make sense to get registered. I'll run a scan overnight and will post the results tomorrow. If you like .cc - watch out for it ;)

Yep. Just less than 8.000 LLL.cc left.

I would estimate they all will be gone in 6 to 12 months.

IAmAllanShore 11-30-2007 04:29 PM

There were 8502 available in April of this year, so the rate of disappearance would have to be subject to a buyout for 6-12 months to come true ;)

In the spirit of things, however, I went ahead and renewed:

codes.cc
vir.cc
411.cc

today.

ext.cc went for $100 on eBay earlier today, but the reserve wasn't met ($100?! I'd be happy to pull 2x reg fee!) I'm surprised an LLL.cc with an x was able to grab so much, but apparently ext is an abbreviation for many things according to the item description.

I have one nice LLL.cc domain, that I'm holding onto
UFL.CC
:)
